"Judging from the reviews, I guess we are the only ones disappointed with our experience with Central New England Soapstone. Our negative experience is based almost entirely on their lack of responsiveness and communication. I called twice and left messages - got no response. A couple of weeks later my partner called twice - and finally got a callback the second time. <br /> Dave was given the specs regarding the job, but seemed very busy and distracted. Apparently he was doing trade shows. It took at least another phone call and more than a week to get a quote. It was approx $600 more than the local fabricator's, and he refused to cut the backsplash to 3/4 inch width (because we were using Beleza soapstone), which the local fabricator (Continental Stone-Sterling MA) said they could do. <br /> We were put off by the difficulty of communicating with New England Soapstone and really wanted 3/4" backsplash so we went with Continental Stone. In retrospect, even though the backsplash came out great and the job was not a disaster, they botched the sink cutout and we wish we would have used a soapstone specialist. <br /> Interestingly, we met a couple from Sherborn MA while looking at slabs at Dorado Soapstone. They were using Dave, and found him very accommodating, to the degree that they were able to negotiate a quote of almost $9000 down to about $6000. As I recall it worked out to be less than $70 sq foot - our quote was for over $100 a square foot. Obviously their job was larger, but I wonder if Dave is more interested in doing work in affluent communities, where one job is more likely to lead to another. He just didn't seem very interested in our project. <br />"

The cabinets are gorgeous, and the design made the best use of the space available. Tony was able to narrow down the infinite selection of options for cabinets and therefore, made it easier to choose without getting overwhelmed. Tony referred us to merchants in the area (kitchen: Yale appliances, Roma tile shop, Select Stone granite and marble site) all of which were excellent referrals."

"Galaxy Granite provided materials and installation services for a granite countertop purchased through Ikea. The cost of the granite is based on use, not slab, which is a huge plus. Once I completed my purchase thru Ikea I visited Galaxy's office to schedule a templating appointment, and discuss choosing my slab. They let me go out to their yard and choose the slab. A week later I received a call that they accidentally used the slab I chose, but they were more than willing to make it right by setting me up with an appointment at their granite distributor to choose my next slab. <br /> The template was built in under an hour, and less a week later, the crew showed up to install the granite. The install and cut of the granite is flawless. I made it clear to the templater that I would like to avoid a seam if possible, and although he accomodated my request. <br />"
