"Initially things went well. A/C was not working so we called Harker. Nice guy came out to check what we had and convinced us to replace furnace as well as the A/C. Installation was prompt and went well. So far, so good. Three weeks later, on a hot Sunday, the A/C stopped working. I called and was told there was nothing they could do on the weekend, but they'd come right away on Monday. After we had a hot, sleepless night, someone did come on Monday and "fixed" the A/C. He left no paperwork or info about what he did, but the A/C worked so we didn't care. The next Sunday, hot and more humid that the last, the A/C again stopped working. I called and the on-call guy (Jordan?) came out even though it was Sunday, since we had already gone through a "repair" that didn't last. He found the unit couldn't be repaired and would have to be replaced. So again, no A/C. But he said we would be on the priority list on Monday to get the unit replaced. On Monday we got a call from Harker saying they needed to order the part and it would take 7-10 days! They said they cannot replace the unit from inventory since Carrier will not cover that under warranty. The replacement had to be ordered from the factory, and the factory would not ship for about 5 days. And neither Carrier nor Harker was willing to pay for fast shipping. So another week or more without A/C. But that's not Carrier's problem and it's not Harker's problem, it's OUR problem. The measure of quality and service is best shown when something goes wrong, and both Harker and Carrier come up very short on both quality and service.
Update---after I posted the very negative review above, the very next day I got a call from Harker saying they would install a new replacement unit the next day. And they did. And it's been working well since. So everything is good now. Thank you Angies List. Nothing else was working, but a negative review here got their attention. Too bad my original concerns were not addressed until I resorted to a public negative review.
