"Tom assessed our home by doing an inspection of our attic prior to having a new roof installed. We went from roof box vents and power fan to ridge vents. Tom found that our bathroom vents were not vented to the outside with the air being discharged into the attic space. He also noted that our home did not have baffles installed and that the original blown insulation was out in the overhang with no real air flow and this would need to be corrected if we transitioned to ridge vents. Tom provided a quote to vent the bathroom fans outside., install the proper baffles and then add additional blown insulation over the existing blown insulation that had settled over the years. After the new roof was completed, I call to get a current quote and had the work completed. The workers were prompt and courteous, They took great care to not make a mess in our home. The two gentlemen worked very hard and did an excellent job. Tom's suggestions have given our home the proper air flow in the attic which will protect the new roof. The additional 4 inches for cellulose insulation will also make our home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. We are extremely happy with the professionalism of Home Comfort and highly recommend them."

"I submitted for insulation quote on Friday and Neil called and came Saturday for estimate. They completed the work on that following Friday, one week later! Already notice a difference in the comfort levels in areas of the house. Before there were 5-8 degree differences in certain rooms, now those rooms are only 1-2 degrees cooler than rest of house. "All of the people (salesman and workers) were very nice and easy to work with but there was a disconnect between them. The salesman obviously had never done this kind of work so some things he thought could be done actually wouldn't work. For example, in the kitchen wall, one of the biggest problems with cold intrusion comes from a covered over glass brick window. The workers were unable to fill behind the cabinet there because the drill would have broken the glass, so that will still be a spot of cold intrusion.
The other major problem of disconnect was a crawl space in a room addition. Apparently it is so shallow that no one can fit into half of it to spray. I can't believe the company doesn't have a remote camera they could have used to determine that. The end result is that only half of my crawlspace got the spray foam. They offered to cut a hole in the floor and try to do it that way or to dig around two sides of this room and spray the outside. I passed on those two solutions.
I waited more than three weeks for the salesman to get back to me with those possible solutions. I feel that was poor responsiveness and a lack of professionalism.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"I hired the company to do a make ready [clean up & prep] on a single apartment in a building which I own in the  town where I live. I needed the property to be cleaned up so I could rent it again.  I have been a landlord for over 20 years & hadn't found a vacated property in such a mess in all my years. They did the complete interior clean-up which took about five hours. And, the complete prep of the property. they took out all the trash & junk, and cleaned up all debris left in the yard. They did such a great job with that I decided to use them for the yard maintenance also. They cleaned all my flowerbeds & got them ready for spring, placed mulch & trimmed the shrubs and flowering trees. On the inside they made everything look brand new! Cleaning the walls, painting, cleaned the carpets & stripped & polished the wood floors...making them look brand new. The appliances that stayed were cleaned inside & out. They even remembered to get all the light fixtures clean for me. Dusted all window seals & doorways. Shine mopped all they tile floors. To top it all off they even gave the bathrooms a fresh clean look by putting a new caulk seal around the tubs, sinks & shower...which gave the bathrooms a fresh face. All in all I found it to be a very stress free pleasant experience. And, I will definitely call on them for the next project because if they could do so well with a nightmare like that I'm sure the less difficult will be equally affordable and easily handled.
