By early afternoon they had completed digging, laid/tamped the foundation and put the pavers in place. The next morning they returned and put out the top soil, grass seed, and straw. "On May 5, 2019 our driveway was repaved. We were very happy with the way the water was running off our driveway. We no longer had puddles. Fifteen months later, however, the driveway was shedding asphalt. The original driveway we had for over 22 years did not have loose asphalt. We noticed that loose asphalt was attaching to our shoes and showing up on our wood floors. Adam came out and fixed the areas that were gouged from the mail carriers truck. He suggested we keep our driveway closed off for 90 days which we did. After 90 days we continued to have trouble with the upper part of the driveway and loose asphalt. Adam came out and looked at the driveway again and suggested sealing the driveway. Our driveway was sealed on 6/30/21 (Covid-19) prevented it from happening sooner. Unfortunately, the upper part of the driveway is still crumbling."

Asphalt paving repairs or patches FAQs
With routine maintenance, a new residential asphalt driveway can last 15 to 20 years. In regions with heavy rain or freeze-thaw cycles, plan on extra maintenance to hit the upper end of that range. Concrete surfaces last even longer, from 20 to 25 years. Regular sealing and quick crack repairs go a long way toward preserving both materials.
You can pour new concrete over an existing driveway as long as the base slab is solid. Pros often place a three- to four-inch overlay to create a strong bond. If the old concrete is cracked or spalling badly, it’s wiser to remove it and start fresh to ensure durability.
Keep the surface in top shape by sealing it on schedule and tackling damage right away. Roll on a quality seal coat every three years for asphalt, and reseal concrete as needed while patching any flaws you spot. Staying ahead of small issues prevents bigger, pricier repairs and keeps your driveway looking sharp.
