"We recently had a woodstove installed by Blue Ridge Chimney Services. I can not say enough about Matt and Victor. They are both very professional, extremely knowledgeable, pay great attention to details and very personable. The first day they came out to my home they answered all my questions regarding which stove would work best in our home. I called them a couple times with additional questions and my calls were returned promptly. They all deserve higher than 5 stars in my opinion. Rhonda in their office is fantastic as well. I would highly recommend Blue Ridge Chimney."

"Every thing went perfectly! Harlan and Ryan were not only professionally superior throughout the installation, but they were flexible and pleasant to work with. The quality of materials was much better than I expected and we plan to make the new glass-enclosed patio a daily fun place. We got other estimates and different approaches, but we definitely made the right choice. Larry & Margaret"

"The company was quick to respond to my email request and came out a few days later and did the work. They called once and rescheduled because of rainy weather but showed up as scheduled. The two man crew were polite, professional, and took time to explain the process to me."

"
The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process. He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately. Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.

The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them. An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process. They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane. Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation. He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925). This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.

Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever. We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough. I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work. I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.

"

"I had problems with a leaking roof on a 19th century log cabin in Madison county. Repeated attempts at spot repair failed and I finally had to bite the bullet and get the roof replaced. A challenge in this rural area is finding reliable contractors who are willing to travel to get the work done, but Blue Ridge was responsive and submitted a competitive bid. Metal roofing is never cheap, but they were very professional and worked with me to keep the costs reasonable while maintaining the historic character. It took a while to schedule the job, as I recall, between competing work and rain, but they came when they said they would, and completed the job promptly and professionally. I'd use them again for such a job, but the thing about metal roofs is, if done right, you don't need another one for 30 years! In any case, a great job at a competitive price.
"

"Reputable contractor who did quality work. Joe Condo, owner, was onsite leading the work everyday.
I found Pyramid via internet search looking for chimney repair contractors in the area. After a few days of phone tag, Joe came out for a site visit to inspect the chimneys and give a quote for repairs. We have a 100 yr old Victorian house with two original construction chimneys. The mortar on both chimneys above the roof was crumbling, with one chimney held together by chicken-wire installed by the previous house owner. Work scope involved rebuilding both chimneys from just below the roof line up. Joe appeared very knowledgeable and experienced during his inspection. The quote was received within a week of Joe's initial visit. Due to other scheduled work, it was 6 weeks (late Oct) until Pyramid could come out to begin the work.
Total construction took 2 weeks, from scaffold erection to final dismantle. Joe and Dennis (helper) were very courteous and careful about trying to protect the property and roof from damage due to the construction. First day was to erect the scaffold and lay pads and boards across the roofline around the chimneys. 2nd day was dismantle of 1st chimney, lowering old bricks and mortar to the ground via buckets and with tarps spread across the attic to catch debris. 3rd day was dismantle of the 2nd chimney to just below the roofline.
Note: With chimney's below the roofline, our furnace (which vents thru one chimney) had to be turned off until the chimney could be rebuilt above the roofline. Outdoor temps during construction time (late Oct/early Nov) dipped to 30 degrees, with indoor temps in the 50's without heaters. Joe offered to provide indoor heaters if needed - - - but the topic of living without heat was not discussed during the original job scoping. Something to consider when scheduling work in cold months. We ended up living more than a week without regular heat in the house. Might consider scheduling work during warmer months.
Day 5 was taken up with delivering the new bricks to the site. Day 6 and 7 involved rebuilding chimney one, Day 8 and 9 for rebuilding chimney two. A couple days were then lost waiting on the roofer to come install flashing around the new chimneys, as well as for fabrication of new chimney caps. The next work day involved installing the chimney caps, installing flashing around both chimneys, and beginning clean-up. The last day was spent tearing down the scaffolding and cleaning up. They left the property in the same condition they found it, good final cleanup.
Overall, Pyramid did a good job. New chimneys look good, much better than the old with crumbling mortar and bricks. Joe did a good job of communicating work status and his plans for the next few days. Their work quality looks good, but only time will tell as to whether the flashing holds up to a heavy rain. I chose to let Joe provide the roofer as a subcontractor rather than my trying to coordinate a local independent roof contractor to work with Pyramid - - - some delays, but worked OK.
Total cost seemed a little pricey, but hard to compare since there are not many chimney contractors in the local area. Pyramid is located about 60 miles from our house, so there was a significant commute for Joe and co everyday. But onsite work hours were consistently 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
In summary - - - Good, knowledgeable experienced contractor that I would recommend for quality chimney repair.
"

"We consider ourselves very lucky to have Jimmy working on our house. We've run into more damage than we expected when we started this project. Plus when we decided we wanted to add a small front porch, Jimmy designed one for us and gave us an estimate the next day. He has worked cheerfully through rainy days, delays caused by the power company, surprises that kept getting uncovered as the work progressed and changes that we've made. He's discussed any problems he's run into and advised us of any additional cost. He came highly recommended to us by a friend of ours who was familiar with work he had done, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone else. The work is not finished yet but I can't imagine anything coming up that would change our opinion."

"After looking over the tree, he gave us a price, then returned with help and topped and then felled the tree. It was close to the house and to a small rail fence on the other side, and sections had to be dropped between the two. We had discussed whether they could just push the trunk down a steep hill behind the fence, which would have made the price lower, but we preferred to have it removed. he only small drawback in the job was that he did leave a big section of the trunk lying for several days before coming back to haul it away. However, it was a time of rather widespread wind damage in the area, and we had no particular objection to waiting while he did more urgent things, but since we hadn't used his company before we were a bit concerned that we weren't given a definite time that the job would be completed.
"
