"Based on the many reviews I had high hopes for Armstrong repairing water intrusion, and damage to my wood floors. Things started out OK with the easy part, removing wood planks with mold, drywall and applying antimicrobial spray. Then things dragged on with unkept promises to get someone over to evaluate the wood floors and further develop the plan. Most of the latter was being done with the “project manager” showing photos to others with experience or opinions. When the conclusion was a need to break through from the inside of the house to the outside through the stucco, I asked for more clarity, like someone actually coming over, showing me the what and why, so I understood better before assuming they had found the right source of the intrusion and solution. Previously another professional had inspected the damage and he had a different opinion. This person had 6 licenses, including building contractor, roofing contractor, and mold remediation. Armstrong’s initial response to my request for more clarity was “then why not have your friend do the work?” I explained this was not a friend, but a referral, and the man being semi-retired did not have the crew to do that small a job these days (and he also had great reviews). But that was not the point. I simply wanted someone to come over and show me what needed to be done and why before creating holes in my exterior wall. We made an appointment for 11am on a weekday and I worked my schedule around that. No one showed up! By 11:30am I called the missing project manager, Jason. Oh, he had intended to notify me by email that he wasn’t coming, they weren’t going to do the work they had started because they were already backlogged, and give me names of other possible contractors. Sadly, this was consistent with telling me he would have the floor guy come over and discuss what could be done, and that too never occurred. Maybe on really big jobs these folks are more motivated? But still, show some basic respect and keep your word or cancel an appointment instead of just not show up. I also left a message for the two owners to please call me. I never heard from them either. Fortunately, I did find an alternative company and they have been reliable. These folks were thinking along similar lines as Armstrong, but had the professionalism to take the time, finish the exploratory work that Armstrong didn’t, and explain options with clarity. And they have been reliable and professional. I realize there are many positive reviews here, and I’m sure there is some explanation for this. But since the owners didn’t bother to return a simple phone call so we could discuss it, and have a project manager who just blows off appointments, getting quality service at Armstrong seems to be a random event."

"A full air analysis and moisture content analysis were done, the information was compiled into a remediation protocol. This company is very good at what they do and the protocol will serve to guide contractors to fix our issue. Very professional and courteous interactions were had with all contacts of this company. They were very thorough compared to similarly priced services and offered a more complete analysis than we could find elsewhere."

"Do not use them. They misrepresent how you pay. They say insurance will pay, trick you into a Docusign, then run over and come after you. Landlord had issue. They said 10 days repair, it took 3 months. Awful "

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in West Palm Beach, FL

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
