"Said they did not move furniture, but did when I started moving it myself. <br /> Beautiful job of steam cleaning.  I had never had my carpets steam-cleaned before.  The cleaner orally told me some conditions after cleaning, like how I was supposed to handle the wet carpets; that they would come back for $35 if some of the spots reappeared.   Then I signed that he had told me these things. <br />  When he left, I noticed on the paper near where I had signed that steam-cleaning carpets on wood floors could damage the wood.  I had not been told that before or after the steam-cleaning.  I had been unaware of the risk. <br /> I believe they should have asked me if there were wood floors underneath the carpet and been upfront with me about the risk, . <br /> ****UPDATE: I was mistaken the note on the paper was referring to area rugs without padding. My hardwood floors will not be harmed afterall."

"They did a beautiful job. We are especially impressed with the matching job they did installing around a center fireplace. As the weather changed, the floor buckled somewhat. We called them back twice and they came out quickly and did a fact efficient job. We are very pleased with the result. The floor is beautiful! <br />"

"The installation of the countertops went smoothly though 4 end pieces had to be added after the fact to ensure protection of drywall at the ends of the counters since the backsplash couldn't extend out to the end of the counters. These pieces were delivered and installed within 24-48 hours. Very professional!"

"Went great!  Curtis did a great job installing vinyl floor and carpet.   He even came back immediately when we called him 2 months after his initial installation about a slight issue in the kitchen flooring due to an uneven/settling floor. Dropped everything he was doing to ensure we were satisfied.  Apparently, the floor crack opened up slightly after some rain may have dampened the crawlspace.  Robert pulled back all the vinyl and spent many hours applying and drying a floor compound to cover/hide the crack <br />"

"First, the salesman worked with us on price and negotiated a discount with the manufacturer due to the size of the project. He saved us approximately $1,000. While we were in the store, a couple was there who had had previous work done and they were back to place another order. They spoke highly of the installers who had done their previous work, and we requested those installers (Brad and Daniel). The installers were super professional, prompt and diligent. Brad has worked with Carpet One for 20 years, which says a lot about how the company treats its contractors. The installation work is perfect."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in West Columbia, SC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
