"Matt and his team were extraordinary! I cannot say enough... The price was great, but more importantly the customer service was something you just don't find these days. Personable, kind, respectful, you feel like you're working with family. In addition to upgrading our electric panel or breaker box, I wanted a bathroom light switch changed and he came back and replaced it at no charge. I asked for help replacing my new bathroom wall lights, and he took care of it. They were incredible! Matt and team will get all of my business from now on. I cannot thank them enough!!!"

"Kyle was a professional from start too finish. He patiently answered all my questions and gave me advice on what the best practices are for todayâ s electrical standards. My panel was a rats nest and he corrected it by putting in a new box in. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs electrical work performed. I plan on having him back for additional work. Thanks again Kyle!"

"My job went very smoothly. The costs were upfront and materials were all new and as specified by my request. He even largely honored a year-old job estimate he had written & signed himself (see picture). The only reason for the higher final price was the parts upgrades from Square D Homeline to Square D QO components. Jim is a Master Electrician and an active duty military veteran: it showed in his knowledge of the job and his overall work ethic. He's a very punctual and honest guy. Great conversation as well! You won't be oversold or outright lied to about what you *really* need for your job. Would definitely hire Jim Manges again."

"Armand and his City Electrical team did a fantastic job upgrading the lighting in both our offices and installing additional circuits in our basement. He's punctual, communicates well, and charges fair pricing. This is the second time we've used Armand, and he's quickly become our go-to electrician!"

"Proprietor was prompt in responding, gave us a timely appt, offered to arrive early when his schedule allowed, and explained to us what he thought was going on. All for no charge, since the problem appears to be outside the house, and he did not charge for checking out our voltages and our electric panel. How often does that happen? He set our minds at rest, and off he went to do good elsewhere.... Will certainly use again once we have the electric company check their wiring."

"I hire Albi to install electrical wiring and an EV charger in my garage. He gave me a quote, which was relatively close to the final cost. He showed up on time; he was polite and professional. He finished the job within a few hours, which was quicker than I expected. He cleaned up all the saw dust/drywall after drilling. The finished product looks great and works well. I would hire him again for a future project."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Westlake, OH

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
