"After 60 years of living with my very outdated bathroom, I decided it was time to give it a much-needed remodel, as well as making it more functional for my current needs. After doing my research, I decided to contact Bath Planet. During the sales visit, the rep listened to my wants and needs; and in the end, I felt confident I would get everything on my wish list at a great price from a reputable company. The renovation went smoothly, and I got everything I wanted, plus low maintenance shower doors; no need to squeegee after every shower! Bath Planet's designer, Tracie Stern, was also an enormous help. She helped me decide between LVT floor designs based on my preferences. She went with me to compare styles, knew how much I needed and helped me place the order. She made the whole process so easy. I am SO GLAD I went with her suggestion. Also important, they contacted me afterwards to make sure I was happy with the end product. I highly recommend Bath Planet. "

"We had 2 bathrooms redone and are very happy with the final product! Our team, lead by Tate, was very professional and responded to errors and changes very graciously and promptly. The downstairs bathroom was made with a zero entry floor and I had them put a track system on the ceiling for a curtain since the space was small and I didn't want any glass. I have elderly parents and needed ease of use in the space. They stripped it down to the studs and put waterproofing on the entire floor, dropped the shower floor down to the joists and poured a custom shower pan. No curbs to trip on. In the Master, they removed my old huge jacuzzi tub, stall shower and block window, removed the wall and expanded my linen closet. Took out my old vanity and toilet and had a custom vanity built with A quartz countertop that we went and picked out at Stone. There were a few bumps here and there but the team met each challenge with a positive attitude and made sure I was satisfied with every step along the way. We are very happy with both bathrooms and will hire them again to do another bathroom in 2026."

"I am amending my earlier review of 01/02/2026 for TR Plumbing. Trevor contacted me after the first of the year to inform me that he is no longer using the services of the subcontractor who was supposed to repair the damage to my bathroom ceiling. He showed up on January 13, 2026 at the time he said he would and repaired the damage. The project is satisfactorily completed."

FAQs for bathtub installation and replacement projects in Williamsburg, VA

Most tubs last an average of 20 years, or closer to 10 to 15 if they’re acrylic or fiberglass. If you’re seeing persistent leaks, cracks, stubborn stains, or mold that won’t scrub away, it’s time to start shopping for a replacement. Out-of-date features and visible water damage are other red flags. Swapping the tub now protects your bathroom from bigger (and pricier) repairs down the road.

You should install your tub in a location that complements your bathroom's layout, plumbing connections, and personal preferences. Consider placing it near existing plumbing to minimize installation costs. Many homeowners position their tubs to take advantage of natural light or scenic outdoor views, enhancing relaxation.

Ensure there's sufficient space around the tub for easy access and safety, especially if accessibility is a concern. Ultimately, the ideal spot is where the tub fits seamlessly with your bathroom design and provides the most comfort and convenience for your needs.

Replacing a bathtub takes just one or two days if you hire a pro to handle the job. They'll remove the old tub and install the new one efficiently. If you're considering doing it yourself, be prepared for it to take much longer, possibly up to a month. That's because you'll need to remove the old tub and drywall, install the new tub, repair the walls, and maybe tackle new tiling. Weigh the time commitment against potential cost savings to decide what's best for you.

Converting your tub to a shower transforms your bathroom with a modern and accessible design. The average cost to convert a tub to a shower ranges from $2,000 to $10,500, based on the required plumbing, tiling, and structural modifications. This upgrade maximizes space while boosting functionality and aesthetics in your bathroom.
