"It was absolutely the best experience we have ever had.. From the initial meeting to the final installation everything was excellent. ZZ and Justine were so friendly, professional and knowledgable that it was easy to trust them.. More importantly, however, was their ability to explain the product and their patience in helping us decide what would work best for our situation. In addition to that their commitment to provide a quality product and quality installation was beyond commendable. It is rare to find tradesmen whom you feel you can trust and who take pride in doing the best job ever. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE our doors and do look forward to using them again."

"Entire process exceeded my expectations from the initial contact I had with Alliance to the completion of the project. The proposal I received from Keith provided the level of detail I was looking for and he did a great job in going over the siding products Alliance offered to detailing all the necessary steps in the process. The installation process went very smoothly and was completed in a timely manner. The crew led by Serg were extremely professional, knowledgeable and focused. I could not be happier with the work they did and Serg kept me updated on how the project was progressing and was quick to reach out to me with any questions he had on the proposed installation approach. Therefore, I would recommend Alliance for any home improvement needs that you may need addressed. Lastly, I was so satisfied with the siding installation Alliance did I am now having them replace the two entry doors to my garage. Thank you again Sergiy, Keith, Serg and the rest of the installation crew. CFP Sr."

"Jim and his team were knowledgable, professional and very thorough in their work.  We are very pleased with the results.  Jim is creative and finds a way to get things done when faced with challenges.  We had a 2nd story window which was difficult to reach due to landscape and Jim handled it smoothly and with no problem.  His team was conscientious and took their time to make sure each opening was done properly to insure a weatherproof installation.  We highly recommend Trust Builders LLC and are making arrangements to use them again on a basement remodel."

"We wanted the walls of our hallway painted which starts downstairs then goes up the staircase and all of upstairs hallway...including open foyer between downstairs and upstairs.  Since it required a tall ladder to reach top i wasn't sure how much they could do in 3 days.
I was pleasantly surprised when David came that he said it wouldn't take 3 days to do the work and what else did I want done.  After some discussion we agreed to add one more day of painting to include our entire finished basement including the trim and 4 doors.  This is much more coverage than i thought i could get with 4 days of work.
Another surprise was how much prep and repair work they did before starting to paint.  They repaired a crack in my hallway as well as plastering and caulking numerous nicks and nail holes.  The basement was especially bad.  I took down all the pictures and pulled all the nails ahead of time and was surprised at how much plastering and sanding was required before painting.  I also removed all outlet covers and light switches to save time. They spent at least one entire day just prepping the walls and caulking nicks in the molding.  I was getting concerned that they would not complete the paint on time.  I did not know they would be so thorough with fixing the walls, doors and molding before painting.  I thought they would just paint over whatever was there.
They were both very friendly and polite.  The work was done on time and looks great.  We are very pleased and will look to use them again.  Great Job!
There were a few things that didn't bother us too much but I know would bother other, more particular people:
- While fixing holes with plaster, I found the assistant was cleaning his plaster cloth in my downstairs half bathroom.  More than once i found small plaster balls left in the sink.  This was after I told him I had a hose out back he can use for cleaning.
- They also made use of our upstairs bathtub to wash paint off the paint brushes without asking permission first.  When I asked David if it was ok to wash paint down the tub drain he assured me it was fine.  But still, I think they should ask first before using anyones bathroom as a cleaning station.

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Willimantic, CT

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
