"We hired Mold Test Company to conduct post testing on a home damaged by a hurricane. They had the best price point of any of the companies I contacted, but you get what you pay for. After my initial contact with the company, I could not reestablish contact with them for over a week as their phone system was having issues. I was about to hire another company when I received a follow-up call from them. At this point I was advised they were having phone problems and I decided to go ahead and hire them for our testing. The technician that conducted the testing was professional and overall provided a positive experience. We were told that we should receive the results of the test in about 48 hours. It took 11 days and multiple calls and emails to get our results. We were initially provided with an inaccurate report that stated visible mold was found in the home. There was no visible mold in the home so when we asked the analyst about it he stated that some of the information in the report was prepopulated and must not have been changed. While reviewing the results with us,the analyst said he could refer us to a company for further remediation products. We were soon greeted by an unprofessional salesman from the other company trying to sell very overpriced remediation products. Our home is under contract and the lack of professionalism dealing with mold test company may put our sale in jeapordy. At this point, I feel like we will more than likely have to hire another company to conduct the testing again. With all of the miscommunication and lack of attention to detail I fear our test from these guys may not be valid. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for a reputable local company."

"Gary Duncan and Parrish Warren (910.443.3823) did a great job. We opted to have the ground under our house covered with a 12 mil plastic with fiber material (won't rot or tear). Covers: Ground, piers, walls etc, all seams covered with special tape and pieces overlap well. Also tied into drains that allow water to be dribbled outside the house through the foundation walls. So, plastic encapsulation, installed a dehumidifier that kicks water moisture out of the under-house area, and more! Coastal Wilmington, prone to mold.... I didn't want to worrry about mold and moisture under the house at all. Piece of mind. Gary and Parrish are local, certified, GC, have a great team, were on time, on budget, finished all in 2-days! and a have realistic guarantee"

"Perfectly. A team of two extraordinary, hardworking and very professional employees arrived within a day (Saturday!) of agreeing to the fix. The entire basement was coated with waterproofing material - which is white and made a huge improvement overall - an added benefit! They also installed a dehumidifier and took the time to explain how it works. The improvement in the basement was immediately apparent and we are delighted. South Jersey Waterproofing is second to none in our book."

"The only problem was in the kitchen.  Of course, very important.  Hardwood floors were washed 3 times and still smeary.  Oven wasn't wiped out completely.  Called and they came back out on Sunday, the day after the first cleaning.  They fixed both problems. <br />"

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Wilmington, NC

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
