"John Bronson, owner of B.R.C.& Co provided excellent service. He replaced my door handle on my storm door and made sure to explain to me why my old handle was not working properly. I will definitely use his company again for any future interior and exterior renovations."

"I recently had 1st Security install a system in my new house and so far have been very pleased with all aspects of the system, from the initial estimate to the installation to the functioning of the system itself. Jeremy did our initial estimate and provided us with a thorough explanation of the system. I already had done a significant amount of research comparing Alarm.com to ADT and some of the self-install options, but Jeremy was able to provide even more information and help me to understand better the pros and cons of each approach. Larry did our installation and also was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining each step of the installation process and providing me with a tutorial at the end. My wife and I have had no issues with the system so far. It is very intuitive, and we have been able to customize it to fit our unique needs. I highly recommend considering 1st Security for anyone looking at installing, switching, or upgrading their security system."

"Excellent service and work. Very smooth experience. Kevin responded quickly with quote and setting expectations for timing of delivery and installation process. Our shutters were ready before we were as we were in the process of painting and remodeling. They patiently waited until we were ready for installation. Installation took about an hour and they look beautiful! Ended up ordering more for other rooms and I can’t wait for them to be ready! Highly recommend JTC."

"I had a couple of delays, and when the day to install came around there was an possible storm hanging around which delayed the start. There was a contractor? other roofer? I thought it was the the job foreman for Otto's but I think this guy was an independent contractor. I don't know except that he told me that Otto was not his boss. To make a long story short, I never ever saw Otto , he never showed his face on the job-site when I was there. I found that a little odd. it did rain for about five minutes on the first day and I was told that they would come back and finish the next day. They told initially that there was probably three sheets of sheathing that would need to be replaced. I could not be there that day as I had to work and I was a little concerned when they told me they found a "lot" of rotted wood. This was after I talked to my wife on the progress. I was not texted nor called to update me on these developments and they would now have to replace seven sheets of sheathing. When I saw them replace part of the roof the day that I was there I saw zero rotted wood. granted the part that was replaced was not as steep of a pitch and I did finally see some pictures. What really irked me is that no one took any wide angle shots of the area to really show me what needed to be replaced. The other thing is that Terry told me he had to replace a piece of sheathing on the back side by the chimney. I went up in the attic and looked and I saw a small patch where they took out my vent but I did not see any new sheathing in this area. This makes me concerned because how do I know how much they really replaced if this was not done. Otto does not have any free sheathing replacement, if you need it it is sixty dollars a sheet. Otto did give me a break by allowing me to buy my shearing and charging me thirty dollars labor per sheet. The thing that bothers me most is that there is sheathing missing where it was supposedly replaced and I have to pay $120.00 extra for two sheets. So it went from three sheets to seven...that to me is not even close. Otto's was fairly priced but If not for this sheathing fiasco I would be able to give Otto a good review...except that you will never see him except at the quote and to collect the money. I would probably choose a company that offers a a few sheets free instead."

"The provider was very knowledgeable and put in the extra effort to cover existing holes from the previous shower stall. Because he covered the existing holes, he had to reorder the glass for one side of the shower stall and didn't charge extra for this change.  He met our needs with a reasonable price and turnaround timeframe. I would definitely call East Coast Glass again.

"Originally, we were scheduled to have our roof inspected on January 10, but due to an ice storm it was not actually inspected until January 24. The owner came out finding that the roof was in pretty good shape. However, some of the roof caps on the various ridge lines needed to be replaced. He also found that the sealant around the pipes coming through the roof had cracked and could be letting in water from either rain or snow. The Technician came out the next day and repaired everything. He also cleaned out the gutters which were long overdue to be cleaned."

"Excellent job on swing assembly Excellent job on hanging peg board Installer informed me it was the wrong type of cat door too install, which I appreciated so that was not accomplished on the day the work was performed therefore is not assessed in the rating. My frustration was with the quality of the paint job to the new door. The person did an good job at smearing the paint - I can see that it was covered. However, I was assured that quality paint would be utilized. When the workman arrived and I mentioned that they were providing paint the response was "I think I have some in the truck". It was clear that paint had not been purchased for this specific job. The door shows gray metal (color of the new door) through the white paint. I've had several folks ask me if I was gonna paint that door. When I contacted Gary he told me it would be the same price to get this resolved (second coat of paint as the first coat.). I believe that $327 to paint double doors a second time because the first coat did not cover it is not a reasonable price. He did not bother to come take a look himself at the cost estimate or the finished product. Therefore I cancelled any remaining work and decided to seek an alternate provider to install the pet door and I probably will just paint the door myself. I included a picture of the paint job. Hopefully you can see the color variations."

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Wilsons Mills, NC

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
