"They showed up early and went right to work. Very pleasant and professional. They installed a sub-panel and wired my Tuff Shed workshop. Willing to explain every procedure and decision. They custom fitted the underground piping to avoid my wife's plants. 100% satisfied with their work."

"Two men from GoGen arrived to help me sort out the origin of half my home losing power in the ceiling lights and wall plugs between four rooms. One told me that I needed to upgrade my outdoor electric box and that it was out of code for new homes. They then came into my home to test the electric current in the plugs that didn't work--one by one (even opening my fridge to confirm it was on). One of my breakers was tripped from the winter storm and flipping the switch fixed 95% of the problem. From there, they told me to conduct a diagnoses and repair to one line of connected plugs, the cost would be $365 per set, and that I had two, but they would only charge me for one. The set fee covered up to 4 hrs of work. The repair took 25 minutes and involved snipping a burned wire and re-twisting it with one that was in good condition to restore power. I later called to ask for the 20% Angies List Membership discount, and while hesitant, they honored it. This sort of balanced things out."

"This was my first experience with Mister Sparky as I was planning out and getting some quotes for a couple projects. If you call, ask for Dylan as the guy was knowledgeable extremely friendly and an overall good dude that’s been in the industry for 11 years. The icing on the cake is they sent him out within 24 hrs of calling, scheduling was super easy, and they came out during the 2026 winter storm. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for an electrician"

"We had great experiences with a very smart woman electrician from Mr. Electric in the past to replace garage light fixtures and repair some interior kitchen light shorts, so they were top of our list to call for the new issues. However, when I called the person fielding the call told me they do not do repairs of exterior lights and would only replace the entire fixtures, even for the one that simply has a stuck base of a lightbulb in it because a bulb broke when we were changing it. Why would they not repair external light fixtures and only do entire replacements of them? It seems very odd. They could not refer me to another electrician who does repair external fixtures, so here I am taking a look at Angi reviews."

"PAID $14,000 for an Lennox system ONLY 2 YEARS AGO. Fox installed and serviced it. Recently, system stopped working and a Fox tech charged us $320 to fix. It stopped working 3 days later, so they came out again. Then, they wanted $3244 to replace the coil. NEVER buy Lennox (look up the class action lawsuit RE coils). NEVER use Fox (I've been pushed up to a "supervisor" 4 times with no resolution, the last one has yet to call). Lennox system's have faulty coils (see Reddit). Fox says they NOW don't use Lennox. (Head scratch) You make the connection. So, all I asked for was a new coil installed (part covered under warranty, 7 yrs left) and a guarantee that if it failed again (meaning I'd pay this time and have seven TX summers to go), Fox would not charge me for labor ($3244...pretty steep price too)...no call back."

"Came quickly to give us a bid on a new meter loop; run wire to carport and shop; lights & switches in carport; install breaker box & outlet to charge RV; outlet for welder & new lighting & outlets in shop. Also installed new under & over cabinet lighting in the kitchen. Started the job quickly. Took a few weeks to complete but that was waiting on Karnes Electric to do their part of the job. The owner was very professional and his crew worked quickly. We were very pleased with the service we received. We would them again."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Wimberley, TX

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
