John Gannon, the owner, made suggestions and his workers were able to integrate the changes as to make the entire deck as it were built all at one time. It also flows well my concrete pool deck. "<p>Invisible Fence staked the existing fence perimeter and handed me two collars for the two dogs.  They spent about 5-10 minutes showing me how to train the dogs.  I had them return a few weeks later and show my wife and kids how to work with the dogs as well. </p> <p>So I paid $1200 for two collars, a few flags around the yard, and 15 to 20 minutes of learning to train the dogs.</p> <p>Net result, one and a half years later, is we have one dog who is afraid of grass and another dog who wont stay in the yard at all (hits the perimeter on a dead run and doesn't get shocked...).  Cant really recommend this to anyone.  Buy replacement batteries online as you can find them for half of what they sell them for.</p> <p>There are MUCH less costly alternatives at the home improvement stores if your dog can be trained.</p> <br />"

"I'm happy with the end result of the fence but their communication was non-existent and overall customer experience was at best, so-so. The fence itself looks great. They had to push back the start by a few days. That wasn't a big deal. The job was supposed to be 2-3 days but turned into a full week. They explained it was because of the slope of the lawn and additional work to get the fence sections to angle correctly. That confused me because they came out and looked at it prior to provide the quote. They cut my, and my neighbor's, at&t lines. It wasn't their fault since the lines weren't marked but it wasn't until I came outside and told them that my cable was down that they said "oh yeah, we hit this line but figured it wasn't live." Why wouldn't they have come to me immediately and told me? It was the end of the project and tying up loose ends that were the main issues I had. After they had supposedly finished I put together a punch list of items that needed to be taken care of. This includes: * post caps and picket caps not glued properly * gates not aligned properly * gate locks installed upside down * gate bracket on outside of fence * fence sections too tight or too loose Had they taken care of all of these items after I contacted them I would have been happy. The problem is there was no communication. I would go to the backyard and notice that 1 or 2 things had been done but not all even though there had been no communication that they were coming, or came, what they did, when they'll be back, etc. I emailed them again asking for info and clarifying what still remained. I had emails sent from the owner that made me think everything was getting taken care of but, again, I would find 1 thing done, but not all, and no communication. The installation was started the first week of July and the final punchlist wasn't completed until some time in September. They offered to take $100 off my total cost for my issues, a 1.7% discount. Like I said, the fence looks good and I hope that it was installed well but the poor customer service makes me not want to do business with them again. Perhaps this is common in the fence installation industry but it left a bad taste in my mouth."

"I have a rather rare roof style- flat, not low slope, flat.  It was pretty much wood decking covered with tar paper, then asphalt, then rock. I've come to learn that this is called built-up roof or BUR.  My house was built in the 60's when this was more common but these roofs are prone to leaking and I wanted to replace my roof with a membrane (TPO) roof. This really limited my options for contractors since only companies that do commercial roof (ie on walmarts) can install membrane roofs.  Most companies either wouldn't do a  residential roof cause they aren't worth their time or  would charge an astronomical price (~20k).   <br />    I got quotes from several companies, some of which didn't seem like they had ever installed a membrane roof and would only give me a 2 year warranty.  Since I don't plan to be in this house for more than 5 years, I really wanted a good, transferable warranty to make it easier to sell the house.  Duramax gave me a competitive quote and a 10 year warranty (much better than other companies) and it was clear that they had experience with this type of roof.  After receiving the quote and talking with an architect I decided the best best thing to do was to put a layer of tapered insulation under the membrane to add a little slope to the roof to prevent water pooling. Steve met me at my work to talk with me about how to do this, went back to my house to get measurements again was able to work with me on the price to include the insulation.  After I agreed to go with them, Steve met me at work again to go over the paperwork.  He saved me a lot of time and hassle by meeting me when/ where I wanted.  They started the work as soon as they could and the weather cooperated, which was about 2 weeks later. <br />    They showed up with a crew of 5-6 and Steve and the owner were either there or available to make sure things went smoothly.  Tearing off the old roof was harder than we expected.  There were several layers to the roof and they could have just put the new roof on top of this but I wanted them to get it down the the decking underneath to make sure it was solid.  They were happy to do whatever I wanted even if it meant and extra day of work.  It was clear that they were focused on keeping the customer happy.  There was  a couple  places where the decking was rotten and they replaced this without charging me more.  There were also a couple of issues when they were installing the insulation regarding the lip-edge around the roof (critical with a low-slope roof).  I called Steve and he was out there immediately to make sure everything was done right and I was happy.  He was very attentive to the customers needs. When it came time to install them membrane, they brought in their "commercial roof" guy that clearly had a lot of experience with this type of roof.  They did a very good job installing it and made sure I was happy with it.   In the end I fully expected the bill to be a little higher than the quote due to the unexpected issues they had to deal with but they didn't ask for a penny more. <br />   Overall I would highly recommend Duramax since they did quality work for a good price, treat their customers very well, and stand behind their work. <br />"

"Very honest and trustworthy. Always checks when in doubt about any work or service but for the most part has excellent judgment and  I do not need to supervise him personally ever!  Has done some other small jobs for us as well as the yard, a fence repair is one example of that.  I would highly recommend his work!  I don't have a clue what I'd do without his reliability and excellent work ethic. Very easy to work with from a billing/payment perspective, it's all just perfect for our situation.   It's a huge job and he makes it so easy to handle from my perspective. <br />"
