"Very well. We met with three designers from different companies. Our All About Closets designer, Sylvia Alotta, was the only one who came to our home prepared to design onsite using a computer program. Other designers came to our home for site visits, but designed offsite or by hand which was much less efficient and satisfactory. Syliva was responsive to our needs, concerns and suggestions and she was able to translate those into an excellent design. Sylvia spent more than two hours working with us onsite to get the design right, and we remained in communication with her via email as the design and order were finalized. The company responded quickly to our order and they were able to schedule installation promptly. Our installation team, led by Justin, was efficient, pleasant, tidy and thorough. The installation was completed in one morning. The installers did notice the need for an additional piece to fill in a gap due to an irregularity in the existing wall. They ordered the piece and returned within two weeks to complete the job. Everything looks fantastic and we're incredibly pleased with both the quality of the materials and the level of professionalism along the way. "First of all, let me start by saying that this was the first time that I have done a remodel.  When I made the big decisions about cabinets and floors, I was doing it from photos that I took.  So, when I signed the contract and John was ready to place orders, I had a moment of panic.  Do the cabinets REALLY go with the floors that I picked?  Did I just make a HUGE mistake in my choices.  Well, John was able to get me a cabinet sample pretty quickly so I could go back to the flooring store just to be sure that I was making the right choice.  He offered me a bit of advice during the process "Go with your first instinct."  He was right.  I went with all of my first choices and my place looks amazing.
I live in a high rise.  Anyone who lives in a high rise knows that there are rules about construction, scheduling elevators, and what can and cannot be done.  John was great in working with my building and not forcing me to deal with that headache.
The project was completed on time and on budget.  I am so excited about my improved space.

"We contacted Hansen Brothers on the recommendation of our roofers to install the electrical outlet for a roof heat cable and to discuss our front steps project. Until this point, it was difficult to get anyone to accept the front steps project. Masonry contractors would not handle cement and cement contractors would not handle masonry. We needed a general contractor to help and Hansen Brothers came highly recommended. Bob Hansen sent his son over to check on the electrical outlet needs and Bob came to assess the front steps project. He listened to my requests and introduced us to a metal worker who would fabricate the new handrails. We made a railing selection and then we discussed the timing to complete the project. In the interim, Bob's son Eric installed the roof power outlet and back door sconce satisfactorily. We started the big project of the steps replacement mid-September and it took several weeks to complete, there was much to coordinate to get this project done properly. Bob was in constant communication about the progress. We had a bit of a slow down waiting for the cement contractor to deliver the concrete, but once that happened, everything else came together. The final electrical pieces and masonry work were completed shortly after the steps were done.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Bob's experience and familiarity with Chicago homes was evident. He gave sound advice and provided some excellent suggestions with our projects. Our neighbors have also commented on how well things turned out. I would indeed contract with Hansen Brothers again for my home projects and will recommend Bob Hansen to my family and friends. I feel we have finally found a trusted general contractor who is responsive who takes pride in his work.

"Zoran was prompt and knowledgeable. I needed him to get me the hardware for the doors (double front door) as I was unable to do it myself due to recent surgery. He went in search of hardware suitable for the door and brought back beautiful plates and knobs.!! I was very happy. Our house is old and the door frame uneven which he pointed out but he made it work to our satisfaction."

"Had taken over management of owner occupied 3 flat apartment building. Recently leased apartment to new tenant. Found that work done on master bathroom by someone hired by owner less than two years ago was faulty. A leak in bath room in apartment above had been discovered and fixed, but who ever owner hired to do repair on water damage to this bathroom apparently never replaced wet wall board, just painted and tiled over!
Also about time I was getting quotes for repairing this bathroom, I replaced the old drop-in stove top in the apartment with a new one. However the old unit had knobs in front, while new one had controls on top. This left a open cutout in front of cabinet.
Tom had been out of town when I first started getting quotes, and I had almost decided on an other provider. However, he offered to meet me at the building at my convenience (I am only there once or twice a week) to see what was needed and give me a quote on the spot.
He showed up on time. When I showed him the main 'job' - the master bath- I gave him minimum information. His answers as to what probably happened and what would be needed, depending on extent of hidden damage was spot on. I also liked his suggestions as to how he would fix the problems.  As we went through the apartment I ask the tenant to show us anything else she felt needed to be 'fixed/adjusted'.  Tom gave good answers to the few items she pointed out., and, while honest, did not put me into any bind or make apartment owner seem bad.
After we left the tenant, Tom explained to me what he would do, and how long he expected to take. I also went into more detail about 'prior' fix with him at that time, though it appeared he easily was able to see what had happened. Tom gave me expected time to do all the fixes, and price. I was impressed that he just about promised all could be done in one day without disrupting tenant to any major degree.  Also, he would be able start within a reasonable time frame, which was important to me.
Tom came out and did the work with in  the next week. While I was not able to be there at the time, I reviewed the work he did several days later. He did a very good job. Also, important to me, the tenant was also pleased and complemented his professionalism. He did quality work, timely, and at a very reasonable price.
I am going to use Tom for future jobs as needed at the building. Not only I will recommend him to others, but here are some projects in the near future I am planning at my own home about which I will be contacting him.
