"I went with Americare because, at the time of this review, they have nothing but 5 star reviews basically everywhere. I can see why. First, they're very reasonably priced. $60 for the service call, which is applied to any work that needs doing. If there's work to do, labor starts at $109, parts depend on what needs replaced. If the repair ends up being so much you decide to replace the appliance you're out no more than $60. All of this is extremely reasonable in this industry. Rich's communication in scheduling was terrific and timely. He arrived one time and was very courteous and professional. He sorted out our washer's issues quickly. No parts required and the fixes were relatively simple. There was no attempt to stick us with any additional fixes, charges, anything. $109, a few simple explanations, a demonstration that all was working as expected, and he was done. The fix was warrantied for 6 months (if I remember correctly), so if it turns out anything he diagnosed was wrong and needs additional work, the paid fee goes toward that as well. I also asked him about a no-longer-made appliance (a personal valet) which he'd never seen (no one has, it's a legacy of the housing boom), and with which I'd had some problems. In about 2 minutes of looking at it he gave me a pretty good idea of what might be wrong with that as well. Smart kid, very nice, very professional, will be the first person I call anytime I need appliance work period."

"I called Appliance Doctor as a result of being dissatisfied with the previous repair company. I had called Mary's Appliances before because my oven wasn't working. Nothing worked except the burners (range). They came out and repaired the oven...sort of. After they left, I discovered that although the oven was working, the broiler wasn't, so I called them back because it had only been partially repaired. However, their view was that I had only told them that the oven wasn't working; I hadn't mentioned the broiler; therefore, for them to come out again would be a new service call. I thought this was unfair; I had no idea that fixing the oven wouldn't fix the broiler also. After a bit of arguing, they said if they came out again, they'd waive the $65 service call but not the repair fee. I was not happy with their service, so I looked elsewhere, and that's when I found Appliance Doctor. Even paying for the service call with Appliance Doctor was the same price as Mary's Appliance was with the service call fee waived, so I definitely preferred to try someone I might like as opposed to someone I knew I didn't like. Everything went well -- the repair person came out on time and promptly fixed the broiler, and he was pleasant to deal with. After he was done, I asked him: "If I had called you and told you the oven was broken, and you came and fixed it, and I called you back and said the broiler still wasn't working, would you charge me to come back out and fix it?" He replied, "No, I would not charge you for the service call. I would charge you for the part, but not the call." *That's* what I would expect from an appliance repair service, not the treatment I got from Mary's Appliance. Recently, my washer needed to be repaired, and remembering my good experience with Appliance Doctor, I called them to ask them to come out and fix my washer. Sadly, they no longer service my area."

"Brad was extremely knowledgeable, professional and thorough with the repair to both our washing machine and dryer. He took time to explain the repairs that were necessary. In addition, he took time to explain how to maximize the efficiency of both machines. He was extremely thorough."

"Our (gas) dryer was not drying and the timer wasn't working. We did a bit of troubleshooting and were not confident enough to tackle the repair on our own. Called around and a lot of companies were asking for a fee to come to the house (not like we can take a dryer to a shop!) and then parts and labor. Called 1st Class and was told (by the owner) what the cause of the problem most likely would be, no 'housecall' fee, and he gave an estimate of the final price. We arranged for him to come on the next business day and the dryer was repaired, tested and the job complete in a matter of MINUTES! It was amazingly fast. But, even better than that, was the bill was LESS than the phone quoted amount! Who does that?!?! Lightning fast work, knowledgeable owner/worker(s) and VERY decent price! <br />"
