"I decided to turn my bathtub into a walk-in-shower and started doing research on the process and companies that provide that service. I had four different companies come out, and one I cancelled after reading their reviews, they were in the low 3s. I chose Premier Home Pros to do the work, I read their reviews and they were good. This is a new company to Michigan but most of the reviews I read were from Ohio. I got lucky enough to have Eric install the shower for me and I couldn’t be happier. Eric showed up on time and never stopped working. Eric worked on my home like it was his own home. He communicated with me what was going on and very neat. I am getting new flooring and told Eric that he didn’t have to put anything down because the carpet is going anyway, but he still did. I sure hope that Premier Home Pros realize how valuable Eric is to the company and how lucky they are to have him. Eric should train all the new employees, not only on the process, but on work"

"Zack did a wonderful job of remodeling our shower, pulled out old tub and installed stall shower. Work was fabulous, best caulking I have ever seen. Nice, professional young man. Dee, the scheduler, was professional and a joy to speak to."

"Mad City was personable and professional with all that needed to be done at my home. Patio door replacement, bedroom window replacement, and shower stall installation. They even hired a subcontractor to repair a hole in the ceiling that was caused by a leaky bathtub. My highest complements!"

"They were professional, honest, and friendly.  They came when they said they'd come, and took less time, which meant the project was less costly than originally estimated.  They were honest about how to repair the problem, without replacing siding that didn't need replaced.   <br /> Doug came highly recommended by the crew at Sherwin Williams.  It is obvious why they speak so highly of him!  They were excellent, and we'll hire them again."

"We had a plumbing disaster that required some walls and ceilings and kitchen cabinets and a stone tile backsplash and lights and paint and more to be removed and replaced afterward. Mark Ellis and his team did it all, including adjusting the work when the problem turned out to be more extensive than we originally thought. The drywall work is really good and doesn't give any hint that there were once gaping holes (far better than some previous repairs by someone else that are still visible). His team is able to do all kinds of repairs and construction, and adapt to changing requirements. When I mentioned some additional things that also needed doing, they were right on top of it and got those done quickly also. What stands out the most about Mark Ellis is the level of attention and service. You have probably had, or heard about, contractors who show up late or don't return calls or disappear for days with no explanation. Mark Ellis was the exact opposite of that. He and his team showed up early every day until it was done. When something needed to be spaced out in time in order to dry, they also showed up on Saturday. Whenever he said he would be here by 7:00am the next day, he would be here around 6:45am even in snowstorms. He always kept us informed, and was very quick to respond to all phonecalls and texted questions."

FAQs for bathtub installation and replacement projects in Ann Arbor, MI

Most tubs last an average of 20 years, or closer to 10 to 15 if they’re acrylic or fiberglass. If you’re seeing persistent leaks, cracks, stubborn stains, or mold that won’t scrub away, it’s time to start shopping for a replacement. Out-of-date features and visible water damage are other red flags. Swapping the tub now protects your bathroom from bigger (and pricier) repairs down the road.

You should install your tub in a location that complements your bathroom's layout, plumbing connections, and personal preferences. Consider placing it near existing plumbing to minimize installation costs. Many homeowners position their tubs to take advantage of natural light or scenic outdoor views, enhancing relaxation.

Ensure there's sufficient space around the tub for easy access and safety, especially if accessibility is a concern. Ultimately, the ideal spot is where the tub fits seamlessly with your bathroom design and provides the most comfort and convenience for your needs.

Replacing a bathtub takes just one or two days if you hire a pro to handle the job. They'll remove the old tub and install the new one efficiently. If you're considering doing it yourself, be prepared for it to take much longer, possibly up to a month. That's because you'll need to remove the old tub and drywall, install the new tub, repair the walls, and maybe tackle new tiling. Weigh the time commitment against potential cost savings to decide what's best for you.

Converting your tub to a shower transforms your bathroom with a modern and accessible design. The average cost to convert a tub to a shower ranges from $2,000 to $10,500, based on the required plumbing, tiling, and structural modifications. This upgrade maximizes space while boosting functionality and aesthetics in your bathroom.
