Crew from Kicking Ash did superb job of evaluation, diagnosing problem, explaining everything clearly and providing detailed information on solution. They were polite, friendly, professional and competent. They replaced the chimney liner, fixed damper, insulated as needed and secured new liner and completed repairs on chimney on roof. Very complete and each step explained. "I needed to have chimney caps put on 2 flues, but was told by another vendor that the flues might be too cracked to do so without being repaired or cut down. I called several companies and did not get a reply from 2. The third company, All Seasons Chimney, referred me to Bruce because they felt he was best suited for the particular work. Bruce answered when I called and set up to come look at the situation 2 days later. He and his son, Chad, come that day, assessed the situation and installed the 2 caps the same day. "Before converting a wood-burning fireplace to a gas log, we called Vonderhaar to inspect and sweep the chimney. We wanted to ensure the chimney was clean and nothing was living in it before converting to gas log. I called Vonderhaar and scheduled an appointment the same week we called. We had called other companies and they were scheduling further out, at higher estimates. Chris was the employee who came for the job. He inspected the chimney (from the roof and looking up into it from the fireplace), found nothing living in it, and confirmed it was clean. He told us he could sweep the chimney though doing so was unnecessary since it was clean. He gave us some asked-for advice about the new gas log insert and the chimney cap. The cost was lower than the original estimate because our chimney didn't require cleaning."
