"Ryan is the most clean professional i have ever dealt with. He shows up on time, he tells us how the job is going and what to expect for the days come. He takes his job seriously and takes great pride in his work. We had him sand and refinsh 1600 sq ft of hardwood and it looks amazing. He also did the backsplash in our kitchen and refinished our cabinets. We had him install a hall bathroom with 18x18 inch travertine stone top to bottom all the way around. He did the floor in the master bathroom and he will be back to the shower aswell. He installed carpet in the basement and also some more travertine same as hall bath in area aswell. I cant thank Ryan from Excptional Flooring llc enough. The respect and craftsmanship is unmatched in todays world. We have recommended Ryan and crew so many times and wish them luck with their business. We will be having them back to do future projects."

"I highly recommend locally-owned business, Flooring galaxy. The owner, Michael is knowledgeable about his products, came out personally to measure for flooring and delivered the wood himself. He is always available to answer questions and lend a hand. When we struggled to match the wood floor vents to the wood floor color, he recommended a professional (Austin) who did a marvelous job. He offers superior customer service that you won’t get at most places."

"The sales person was an older gentleman who was quite knowledgeable and  had been in the carpet industry for 35-40 years. We felt comfortable talking to him about various types and colors of carpets. He came out to the house and measured. What I was really impressed with was that after it was installed he was very close with his measurements. We didn't pay for carpet that we didn't use. The installation was very efficient. It was done when they said it would be done. We were really happy with the service. He had good communication and was very accommodating. The guys he had do it were very efficient and got the job done."

"This is the second time we have had Clark Flooring do the floors at our home. Pricing was slightly better than the competition. Jackie and the sales staff are very easy to work with. The installation crew was also very good - on schedule, minimal mess, excellent results. The floors look great ! The entire process was a very good experience."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Columbia, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
