"Mike (owner) and his crew did a great job on my kitchen remodel. Mike took the time to thoroughly determine exactly what I wanted. I never felt rushed and all my questions and concerns were addressed throughout the process. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful. This multi month complete renovation of my kitchen and mud room with took place in the summer of 2023 could have been much more taxing if the guys hadn't been so great to get along with. Thanks again to CBC Remodeling and services."

"Actually, they did a number of projects aside from the shower conversion. They installed windows, a dishwasher, a water heater. They made stairs and railings for my back door and installed a light over the stairs. And they removed the bushes from the side of my house and cleaned up my back yard."

"Fox Renovation has been a pleasure to work with. First and foremost, they offer quality craftsmanship! They are super friendly and easy to work with. They want you to feel good about their work and are willing to make adjustments to meet the needs of their customer. My wife is very picky, and they are very accommodating! I highly recommend them if you are looking for reliable, quality renovation work. FIVE star quality!!"

"They repaired the roof and the gutter on the side of the house. They were very professional and very quick to answer any questions I had. They made sure I was happy with the job before they left. Can't wait to use them again for the inside repairs!"

"I would like to thank Kevin Taylor @ T&K Flooring and Remodeling for the beautiful remodeling of my new bathroom. The first contractor Todd D. attempted to do the job, but fail short on every aspect of the word "remodeling". Then I hired Kevin to start all over again. He was great and knowledgeable about the plumbing, electrical, installing major fixtures, installing surround tub, new toilet and very large vanity. It was very hard for me to make some of these decisions, but Kevin had the knowledge and sense of home décor. It was very easy and pleasant to work with Kevin. Kevin was always on time and very courteous. He cleaned up at the end of every day and asked me " Are you pleased with the job so far". I cannot thank Kevin enough for the excellent craftsmanship he showed to transform my bathroom into a beautiful and soothing room. I would highly recommend Kevin to my family and friends. I have already scheduled to have Kevin remodel my kitchen. Thank you very much for my beautiful bathroom, Kevin. I just love it!"

"To date this contractor has performed very well. The job is not finished yet, waiting for the counter top to be installed. Once installed the contractor will finish. The contractor has worked around our needs to have a minimal impact due to the kitchen under contraction. Workmenship is excellent. Just finished the project except for two stand-a-lone cabinets. (These cabinets were returned because they were to wrong ones.) Contractor will return when they arrive. The kitchen looks great as does the breakfast area, hallway and entrance. Quality workmanship. Would hire again."

FAQs for kitchen remodel projects in Erie, PA

Your galley kitchen needs adequate clearance around any island installation to maintain functionality. Most galley kitchens lack sufficient width for traditional islands, as these layouts prioritize efficiency in smaller spaces.

If your kitchen has an unusual width, consult with a kitchen designer who can evaluate your specific dimensions and recommend appropriate solutions. For narrower spaces, consider alternatives like rolling carts or narrow work tables that provide additional surface area without permanently restricting movement.

Kitchen remodels require six to 10 weeks for completion, though timelines vary based on project scope and material availability. Simple updates like cabinet refinishing and countertop replacement might finish within a few weeks, while comprehensive renovations involving structural changes often extend beyond two months.

Planning stages add approximately four weeks before construction begins. Maintaining clear communication with your contractor and ordering materials early helps prevent unnecessary delays.

Common errors include insufficient clearance between opposing countertops, inadequate lighting that creates shadowy work areas, and poor storage planning that leaves countertops cluttered. Some homeowners select oversized appliances that overwhelm the space or invest in expensive features that don't address fundamental workflow issues.

Careful planning, accurate measurements, and consultation with experienced professionals help avoid these pitfalls and ensure your renovation successfully addresses your kitchen's specific challenges.

Whether expansion makes sense depends on your home's layout, your budget, and your long-term plans. Combining a galley kitchen with neighboring spaces creates more open, flexible layouts that many buyers prefer. However, removing walls involves substantial costs, particularly if they contain plumbing, electrical systems, or structural elements.

Sometimes, optimizing your existing galley layout through better storage solutions and lighting proves more cost-effective than expansion. Consult with a contractor to evaluate specific costs for your situation.

Effective galley kitchen lighting combines multiple sources to eliminate shadows and create visual spaciousness. Overhead fixtures provide general illumination, while under-cabinet lighting illuminates work surfaces directly. Consider recessed ceiling fixtures that don't protrude into limited headspace.

Lighting with dimming capabilities allows adjustment for different activities. Reflective surfaces like glass tile backsplashes or glossy cabinet finishes help bounce light throughout the space, reducing the corridor effect common in galley layouts.
