From the minute they arrived, AJ was like a maestro conducting his very capable crew to establish a containment area to prevent dust and debri from permeating the rest of the house. Every effort was made to cover furniture, speakers and carpet with plastic. From there, it only got better. AJ and crew made short work of jack hammering the floor, tunneling under the existing paneled wall without disturbing the paneling and trim. This alone saved me a few thousand dollars on repair and replacement. His crew continuous swept and discarded debri to ensure a clean work area.. Without even asking, his guys installed the drains for our furnace condensation line, softener and dehumidifier within the french drain system. The coup de gras was a meticulous cleanup, which included wiping down the floor and walls, making it cleaner than when he started! I highly recommend AJ for all your waterproofing needs. "Valdel provided an appointment time say day. Tim arrived on time and called when he was within 30 minutes of the house. He was extremely courteous and professional. He assessed the existing sump pump and explained that it was not of great quality (contractor grade) and recommended replacing over repairing as there was no guarantee that it could be repaired. He replaced the sump pump on the same visit and then showed me all of its features and how to troubleshoot if there were any problems in the future. He cleaned the work area after he was finished and always covered his boots when walking through the house to get to the basement. The pump was operating well and flushing water out regularly and shutting off as it should. However, we noticed a thud sound each time the pump flushed water out that we had never heard before. I called Valdel back and explained the concern the next day and Tim return promptly to address the concern. He determined that it was the back flow valve that was causing the thud sound and replaced that valve with a new, and better valve at no cost to me, that closed more softly and quietly each time the pump flushed the water out. The pump has now been running perfectly for over a week and is silent. I was so impressed with Valdel's responsiveness and communication and with Tim's punctuality, professionalism, problem solving, and communication. In the end, everything is working as it should and the process from start to finish was very positive. We would definitely hire them again and would recommend them to our friends. Thanks Anne"

"We had a French drain installed in our basement, along with two sump pumps. From what I can tell, the work was performed correctly and to the specifications outlined in the contract. I found Shawn, the owner, to be responsive, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. Overall, the crew that installed the trench and sumps arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the job in 3 days, leaving a clean basement behind. For the sake of fair balance, I will detail two issues in the service I received. The first had to do with the condition of my footer when the trench was dug. As they were digging, I noted that in one section of the wall, the footer appeared have been damaged by their jack hammering. Upon calling Shawn about this issue and sending him pictures of the damage, he stated that it was related to how large the footer was and how the footer was poured when the house was built. He also assured me that the footer was in good condition and the part they chipped away was not load bearing and had no impact on the structural integrity of the foundation. This seemed to be a reasonable explanation so I thought nothing of it. The second issue had to do with cracks in the basement floor. Before the work was started, there were one or two visible cracks in the floor. Yet, after their work was complete there were well over a dozen visible cracks. Upon calling Shawn again, he stated that his jackhammers could not have caused that damage and there might have been smaller cracks that got larger when they began working. I do not have photographic proof to dispute this explanation so I can only cite my memory regarding the condition of the basement floor; however, in combination with the first issue it makes me wonder how much care was taken when they dug the trench. Not being structural engineer or having photographic proof, I can not refute the explanations given to me, but my advice to others would be to photographically document the condition of your basement prior to getting work done and carefully watch the work being performed."
