"We get this service monthly to prevent insects (primarily ants in the house) and for general pest control. The various techs are personable, answer any questions, and will respond to a specific area of treatment as we go through the year. Glad we have Green Pest Solutions on our home maintenance schedule."

"We are thanking our lucky starts that we went back to the drawing board on a potential bed bug situation and found Mark and Jessica of Arkadia to help us ourt.  Following a business trip where I was bitten by bed bugs and fearing I'd brought them back home with me, I hired another pest control company and their bed bug sniffing dog to come do an inspection in my home.  This company said they found a hit in my bedroom and was willing to do a treatment of that one room, without a guarantee, for $2000.  The company was highly recommended but, as the price seemed high, I started checking around.  Everyone I spoke to said that was highway robbery.  A single room treatment ran anywhere from $350-500.  Arkadia was right around that price for the room but, after hearing my story, the owner, Mark, insisted that he come out personally, on a weekend, to do a thorough inspection and show us all the things we should be seeing if we had bed bugs.  In advance of his visit, his assistant, Jessica, talked to me for almost an hour on the phone, answering all of my questions, calmingly, and gave explicit instructions on how to pre-treat and take precautions, just in case.  Upon inspection, it was determined that there was no evidence of any tell-tale signs.  We did have carpet beetles -- a common issue and easy to treat through mere vaccuuming.  The other company had shown us carpet beetle remnants as bed bug evidence.  Mark told us to continue to use the preperatory protocol for another week or two just to be sure we weren't still being bitten and if not, to go ahead with life as normal.  Most impressively, he flat out refused any payment for his time and services, even when we insisted.  He just wanted to be sure that we got an honest assessment of the issue so he gave of his personal time and expertise to make sure that happened for us.  I put the approximate cost of a treatment for one room above as, if we DID require a bed bug treatment, this is in the neighborhood of what we would have been charged (though each case is different) and to let anyone looking for a provider know what a resonable cost is and who a reputable, honest company is.  If I have any type of pest control issue in the future, you can be sure Arkadia is the only call I'd place!

FAQs for bug and insect pest control service projects in Highland Park, NJ

The timeframe it takes to eliminate gnats varies considerably depending on the infestation's severity and the treatment approach. According to pest control professionals, completely eliminating gnats from your home can take several days to a few weeks. Success depends mainly on identifying and addressing the source of the infestation, such as overwatered plants, decaying organic matter, or moisture problems. Following treatment, continued prevention measures significantly improve long-term results.

When applied correctly, professional exterminators use treatments that present minimal risk to household members. Many companies now offer family-friendly options specifically formulated to be less toxic while remaining effective against gnats. If necessary, your pest control professional should provide clear instructions regarding temporary evacuation during application and advise on appropriate waiting periods before resuming regular activity in treated areas.

Though often grouped together, these small flying insects have distinct characteristics and habits. True gnats commonly gather around houseplants and moist soil. Fruit flies, which are lighter colored, primarily target overripe produce and fermented items. Drain flies, recognizable by their moth-like appearance, breed in the organic matter in drains and plumbing. Identifying which type you're dealing with helps determine the most effective elimination strategy.
