"In a down economy I expected to be treated pretty well. My experience was so-so. They weren't quick to return phone calls and getting installation scheduled was frustrating. My appointments were postponed several times. The first two rooms I got an estimate for together and decided that I didn't want to spend the money on the high end carpeting for one of the rooms so I only contracted to install one room. The estimator had already ordered the second room of carpeting - prior to me signing anything or giving a deposit. They made me feel under pressure to go ahead with the second room. To their credit, 6 months later when I went there to look at vinyl for my bathrooms, they offered me the extra piece of carpeting at half price. Again, though, the installation scheduling was a chore and they went ahead and cut a hole in the carpeting to accommodate a cable tv line that is no longer used without confirming it with me. The installers were very friendly and they were nice guys, but there was too much personal conversation both with me and with each other, including profanity, to be called professional. I finally went back for the final room of carpeting because I wanted the same carpet in all three bedrooms. The price they quoted was very high - I would have appreciated a little and quot;giveand quot; because of all the other flooring I ordered through them, but because I wanted matching carpeting I went ahead with it. This time the installation was scheduled and they showed up as promised, but after the carpet was installed I realized it didn't match the other two rooms. They insist that it is the same carpet and I truly don't know enough about carpet to be able to argue, but the pile seemed denser and shorter to me. Fortunately this bedroom is at the other end of the house so the difference isn't going to be noticeable to anyone but me. The installers saw the difference I noticed right away, but the estimator was very defensive and abrupt about it. As I said, I'm not in a position to argue, but I would have finished as a happier customer if he had been more willing to listen and at least come out and take a look. In the end I accepted the carpet and paid full price, but I won't be returning there in the future. I need to purchase a piece of carpeting to have bound to go over my hardwood flooring in my living room but I will look elsewhere for it. <br />"

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"After struggling for a few weeks to get a call back from another company, we chose this company based on Angie's List suggestion. They were easy to get a hold of, scheduled us within two days, arrived on time, and did a fine job, all the while being courteous and friendly. I had been a little concerned about the patch to our carpeting showing, but I can't even see the difference, and it was a much less expensive solution than re-carpeting the entire bedroom would have been. There was no attempt whatsoever to steer us towards a more expensive solution, and Eliseo, our installer, was great."

"It was wonderful and they did everything. They were efficient, they did a good job and they cleaned up nicely. It was difficult to find anyone to review out of it so I think the price was fair and I felt comfortable with it. It was reasonable. If I would use them again, I would also recommend them."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lompoc, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
