"02/01/2022: Adam from J&S came out to replace leaking toilet with a comfort toilet. All went great. I opted to purchase for the Kohler Brand from J&S, which was a bit more expensive. Total cost: $750.00. Adam said they could add a spigot to the east side of our house in the future. 05/05/2022 Adam and Mike came out to install the spigot and repair the kitchen faucet my husband had installed. The faucet could not be repaired, and we opted for a new Moen model that Adam had on his truck. Total cost: $1550.00 for new outdoor spigot and faucet. Adam and Mike were very respectful to us and our home. The price was fair. I really had no idea what the extra spigot would cost, but I imagined about a grand for the piping and labor. The kitchen faucet was an added surprise, but we made the choice to have the item function properly. Note: Another plumber I had been working with for a decade said the cost would be enormous and he'd get back to me with an estimate. One month passed, no response. I called to follow up. Still no response. Very disappointing."

"Scott and crew were very professional & friendly. They showed up to work a planned half day to find the bad pipe. After not locating the pipe in the location we had hoped, Scott & crew waited while my husband and helper removed cabinets so they could continue the job on past the agreed upon time, working well in to the evening to find, diagnose and replace the bad pipe. Scott offered us SEVERAL options to fix our issue (which wasn't an entirely easy fix), allowing us to decide which route we wanted to take. Every step of the way, Scott asked BEFORE doing any work. Scott provided a price range before the job began, so we had a general idea of the scope of work. At the end of the day, the work came back on the high end of the estimate, to be expected with the scope of the job and the hours he and his crew spent at our house. Scott also offered to write a Plumbers Report for our insurance in hopes some of the work could be covered, even after an initial denial. I'm not sure if he has done this yet, but it was nice of him to offer to help us recoup some of the money based on the extensive work he and his crew had to to do get our drain working again. Homeowners insurance does not cover broken or deteriorated pipes under your concrete slab if there is no visible damage ABOVE the floor. Unfortunately, the damage left behind after digging and replacing plumbing is extremely expensive, so beware if you're on a slab and have plumbing issues due to age & deterioration. We appreciate Scott's friendly professionalism, quick response to calls & ALWAYS asking before moving on to the next step, walking us through the entire process. Would highly recommend Scott to anyone looking for plumbing needs. We hope to have Scott back to tackle our bathroom remodel at a later date. Thank you Scott & Crew for your hard work and long day..."

"They performed the job with courtesy. They forgot to haul away the old pump but came out soon after and picked it up and hauled it away. They also fixed a leak from our top floor through the ceiling. They were able to diagnose the problem and repair the problem."

Customers say: True professional

"After trying several home remedies towards the end of a week we decided to secure professional help on a Saturday. Charlie returned our call within minutes and arranged to come towards the end of the day on Saturday. He explained what he was doing, was efficient, discovered and replaced an unrelated rusted pipe and cleaned up the inevitable unrestrained water from nearby surfaces."

"Nathan was very patient with all my questions and respects those who can do some DIY work. I tried to repair the issue on my own but ultimately needed to replace the entire pump. He installed a new one and it’s working great."

FAQs for faucets, fixtures and pipes repair or replace projects in Northbrook, IL

A minor, easily accessible leak can be resolved in about three hours, while a large or hard-to-reach leak may take up to three days. If flooring or cabinets need to be built back, the timeline can run several weeks to cover material deliveries and installation. Every job begins with detection, proceeds to repair, and concludes with restoring your foundation’s strength.

Slab leaks are most common in areas where the ground is in motion, such as those prone to earthquakes or highly expansive soils. In places like California, constant shifting puts stress on foundations and pipes. Stay ahead of trouble by monitoring your water bill, inspecting visible slab edges, and scheduling routine inspections to catch leaks early and maintain your home's safety.

Keep an eye out for damp spots, rising water bills, the sound of running water when taps are off, or staining and sagging along the foundation. Check exposed slab edges during routine walk-arounds and note any uptick in indoor humidity or pest traffic. The moment something looks off, call a pro—fast action protects your slab and wallet.

Most policies cover slab-leak repairs tied to a covered event, such as earthquakes, severe storms, or a fallen tree. They often won’t cover gradual issues, such as root intrusion or corrosion-related pinhole leaks. Every policy is different, so be sure to contact your carrier for the fine print before any problems arise.
