"100% would recommend Mica from Plunkett’s to deal with your cockroach issues. We had roaches off and on for many months, despite a good cleaning regime etc., and eventually realized other units in our shared building had the same issues. Mica quickly and precisely diagnosed the source of the issue, was real with us about time and possible costs, worked with us in coordinating multiple units, patiently answered all questions, and in the end helped my neighbors and I deal with this extremely persistent issue in a relatively short time frame. He approached treatment with a lot of care and thought, in particular listening and adjusting for our concerns re: safety of our young toddler. This was a big one for us! Plunkett’s was a bit more expensive than some other pest control companies we looked at, but neighbors had already tried multiple other services and it never got rid of the issue. In the end, it was probably cheaper than multiple ineffective treatments, but more importantly we haven’t seen a roach in several months."

"<p>The company was affordable and able to come at a convenient time. We had a pretty serious spider infestation on the property. We had just bought the house and there were nests, webs, and impressively sized spiders everywhere outside the property.<br /> <br /></p> <p>The first spraying was unfortunately unsuccessful. Within one week all of the webs that had been removed by the American Pest Solutions tech were re-spun and the spiders were back to dominating our property. We had a few that managed to make webs clear across our whole double car garage door and across the entire gangway between our house and the next door house in that single week! These webs were so bad that we could not use the gangway and the spiders pretty much dictated our pathway through the yard and into the garage. </p> <p>Obviously disappointed in the return of the spiders, we called American Pest Solutions and explained that the original spray was unsuccessful and that the spiders were back in full force. They were very polite, apologized, and came immediately back out to the property to re-spray at no added cost. This second spray did the job. "My daughter heard little taps in the attic above her room. A-Action Pest control worked with me to find a time to come to my house. My technician Ken was great- he explained the process to me, was very respectful of my home, and educated me about the way mice can get in the home. Just had my follow up visit today and mice are gone! I'm definitely happy I found them and will continue to do business with them. I did end up getting the yearly plan but felt no pressure to do so. We have had a lot of spiders in our house (just moved to this house recently) and have seen less since A-Action has been out."

"The gutters are coming loose on one side of the house, and I have a roof leak on the other side. As the roofer was looking over the situation in preparation of an estimate, he noticed a squirrel go in at the point where the gutter came loose. After reading reviews of several companies on Angie's list, I chose Critter Control because they seem to specialize in this sort of problem, as opposed to companies that do general pest control, bug extermination, etc. <br /> The woman who answered the phone described the pricing structure, so there were no surprises regarding the bill. There was a set fee for the initial service call and for monitoring the traps, which was paid at the time the service tech initially came to the house. There was also a charge for each squirrel trapped, which was billed after all the squirrels were caught and the job was complete.  Also, at the time I set up the appointment, they gave me $5 off for being an Angie's list member. The total cost was very reasonable for the work that was done. <br /> J.P. came out as scheduled to review the situation, and he set up traps near the gutter to catch squirrels. He said they usually are found in family groups, and he was right. They caught four squirrels altogether.  When they didn't catch anymore, they filled the hole with crumpled paper (or the equivalent) and then checked to see whether the paper was disturbed in any way.  Once J.P. was satisfied that there were no squirrels left in the attic, he placed a more sturdy barrier over the hole, intended to keep out any critters until the roof and gutters are replaced. <br /> On the other side of the house, where there was a leak in the roof, he noticed that the hole in the roof appeared to be the result of a raccoon tearing up the shingles. He peeked into the resultant hole but did not notice the telltale smell of an active raccoon residence. Just to be safe, he filled in the hole with paper that could be moved by raccoons, if they were still going in and out of this hole.  The paper was not disturbed for several days, so he concluded that they are not living there currently.  Just to be sure, he covered the hole with a screen that will keep them out until the roof gets fixed. <br /> J.P. was very knowledgable, professional and friendly. He checked the traps every morning and called me with updates. The process took one work week (Monday thru Friday). They took the squirrels to Palatine (or thereabout) to humanely set them loose. Also, this is quite far from my house, which helps to ensure that they will not find their way back. <br /> I would definitely use them again if I have any more critters in the attic! <br /> <br />"

"We encountered a skunk in the middle of our fenced backyard for two consecutive nights before daylight.    We have two dogs that have to be let out at that time for their routines and last fall we experienced 1st hand what it was like to have one of them sprayed.  The smell was brought into the house and the dog spent the day getting special baths at the groomers and we had to have all the carpets shampoo'd.  Bad experience!!!!!  We didn't want to repeat this again and also had concerns over skunks being carriers of rabies. <br /> <br /> We contacted Steve Krom on Thursday and Friday morning 1st thing he was out at our property.   He told us skunks were avid diggers and he would make the rounds to confirm it was living close or elsewhere.  After scoping out the area he determined we didn't have an odorous tenant so he setup a baited trap near our back gate.  The 1st three nights  a c***, a possum, and then a c*** were captured and Steve came over and released the animals even on the weekend..  He said he would go beyond his normal 3 captures for a few more days at no charge otherwise we we were probably spinning our wheels.  As he indicated we only had a 40-60% chance of capture.  Luckily after nothing on the 4th night we finally connected on the 5th night- we were very pleased but at the same time sad for the animal.  On schedule the skunk was picked up and disposed of.   Part of the total charge was $55 for the disposal of the skunk.  Steve was very professional and very explanatory.  We were very impressed with his skills and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.......  "
