"This is my second time in about 2.5 years working with Rick C. at Macadams Flooring & Design. Our project included tile, hardwood flooring, and carpet. MF&D are very professional, valuable guidance, good advice and are human. They listen well, work tight deadlines, and they are problem solvers. Great communications coming from all the teams... Overall, a really great experience and value. Andre M., their tile expert, was outstanding. He arrived exactly on time, came fully prepared, and demonstrated exceptional skill and focus throughout the job. His work ethic truly stood out, Andre takes pride in what he does and it shows. Kenneth T."

"Long's Floors installed carpet and vinyl approximately 7 years ago. When we had major water damage, the first person I called was Jayson at Long's Floors. We were extremely happy the first time around and just as happy the second time with Long's Floors. Jayson is very professional, knows the products, and is helpful making suggestions. The installers are top of the line professionals. The carpet looks beautiful after a perfect install in three bedrooms, hall, and steps. The steps are complicated; the installers had no problem and the job was perfection. The closets turned out just as nice. The vinyl looks great and, again, a perfect professional install. Thank you Jayson and your expert installers that brought our home back to a beautiful home."

"Kevin and his team are incredible. They are good people, make good recommendations if decisions need to be made, and perform excellent work. I feel very fortunate to have hired Installer Direct. I was most impressed when Kevin noticed that my water heater was leaking and offered to fix it. He saved me a ton of money and my house turned out awesome. Even though the work is done I consider Kevin and Bo friends."

"I'm so glad we decided to contact 24/7 Flood & Fire the night a plumbing leak caused a major flood in our house. From the minute they picked up the phone, 24/7 Flood & Fire was communicative, responsive, and professional. Obviously, dealing with something like a house flood is stressful beyond belief, but the 24/7 team really helped us gain back some piece of mind. The flood happened when we were out of town, but I was still able to get 24/7 onsite and into our house within 2 hours of leaning about it. From that night through the next week the team took great care through water mitigation/drying to post-flood demolition to make sure our house was in the best shape it could be as we head into the next phase of recovery. Particular shout out to Christian, our project manager, who stayed in constant contact throughout the ordeal. I would recommend this crew in a heartbeat!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Olympia, WA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
