"Starla and her family members at GCO were super helpful when I was shopping for new wood floors and carpet. I ended up only buying carpet from GCO, and the price was almost half of what I was quoted for identical carpet at another local flooring place. Starla knew I was on a tight budget and found some carpet in-stock that was exactly what I was looking for. The installer, Bill, was also very good. Professional, quick, and friendly."

"The carpet was really reasonable and they seem to be able to do it quickly. They installed it very well and the carpet was in stock and it seemed like they came out the very next week which was important because it was a rental and we were trying to get it rented. It wasn't the best quality but it was our choice. For the price it was really good."

"Mike and his team are great! We looked at samples in the showroom, and Mike brought our favorites to the house so we could pick the best while he measured the rooms. The team moved the big furniture and replaced it, and had our two large areas finished in less than two days. Mike had estimated the amount of carpet needed so well that we had only a small length left over for future emergencies. We are very happy with Washburn Carpets."

"This is kind of a mixed review, so hard to figure out the letter score to give them. We had Evergreen come out on 12/10/18 and clean our carpets, two sofas, lazy-boy chair, and two beds at our house. We also had them take three area rugs of different manufacturers/size to be cleaned. We had just had 6 months of renovation work and the place needed to be cleaned. The good: I cannot say enough how pleasant and professional all of their staff have been during the times I have talked with them and had them out. They were on time. The cleaning of the rugs and sofas/chair was probably the best I have ever had from any carpet cleaning company. I highly recommend that you use them to clean your carpet and sofas, I will use them again for this. The bad: do not, DO NOT, have them clean your beds or rugs. Both beds (of different ages and manufacturers) had a chemical smell left in them. The quality manager came out twice and reworked the beds, I have no fault in Evergreen’s efforts and professional attitude. But we have had the two beds in the garage for a month and a half and the odor has not gone away – so we have had to buy new beds to replace them. The three rugs were a variety of quality, age, and manufacturer, but all were returned with a heavy soap /chemical smell. Once again, the Evergreen team was very professional and picked them back up and rewashed and kept them for almost 2 weeks. Alas, they still have the odor, they are out in the garage, we are hoping that at least the best of them will eventually off-gas. So, carpet/sofas = Yes! Beds/rugs = NO!"

"Paul and staff were prompt, efficient and very friendly. Knowledgeable, explaining every step they took. They removed pet stains and made my carpet & house smell great. No harsh chemical smell as with prior carpet cleaners. They also did an amazing job on my bathroom tile!"

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Reno, NV

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
