" AJ, the owner/operator, at this small family-owned plumbing company did a fantastic job rebuilding the water system in our home. AJ was prompt, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable about his work. He explained things well, showed up when he said he would, and the quality of the work was excellent. On top of that, the pricing was very fair. It’s great to find someone who is both competent and economical. I highly recommend AJ if you’re looking for a reliable plumber you can trust. P.S. the project selections were limited to seer clogs and drain clogs. This project was a complete tear down and rebuild of out well water tank, filter, water softener, and hot water heater."

"Hire with confidence! If you are in need of downspout drain pipe or sewer pipe repair, please consider Sewer Renewal Specialists for the job. The conscientious owner, David, had a nice balance of professionalism and friendliness, and instilled trust quickly. They are authorized to use the NuFlow technology, where your existing pipes can be re-lined, rather than dug up and replaced. Having a positive outcome and satisfied customers is more important to this firm than the almighty dollarâ ¦a rarity these days!"

"Steve and Gabr were representatives that came to our home to clear a clogged drain. We had previously used another company for the same problem, 6 months prior. Steve and Gabe were professional and friendly. When I mentioned the price of the company previously used, Steve listened and charged us the same amount. We appreciate Rescue Rooter and Steve and Gabe!"

"The job was well executed. Compliments to everyone at Speedy Septic. Hayden Buley was very quick to respond to my request for an estimate. I called several other septic system installers on listed on Angie's list who were either booked far into the future, or who did not respond to messages. Hayden made an appointment and came out to inspect the site as agreed and on time. He was very personable and professional. He set up a second meeting involving Mr. Rooter. He then provided an emailed cost estimate. One uncertainty in cost was whether the drain field needed to be replaced. This could not be determined until it was unearthed and inspected. Fortunately the drain field was still functioning well. A new distribution box was needed, and the drain field pipes were cleaned with the "Jetter" and all was well. The job took a little longer than planned due to bad weather. Our only winter snow and ice storms happened while the job was underway. We live on a fairly high hill and the snow and ice conditions were fairly bad, so I can't fault Speedy Septic for having the job take a little bit longer than planned. Then made sure that we had functioning toilets throughout most of the job, always when their work day was done. I'm happy to report that original cost estimate was very accurate. Compliments to all of the Speedy Septic and Mr. Rooter crew. They worked hard in some very cold and nasty weather to get the job done."

"Drained the water heater of sediment to keep the water from running brown out of the bathroom tap. Continued to have issues, although not as bad as before. It appears to be getting better. Also dragged mud in from boots on new carpet. They apologized and attempted to clean up afterwards. At the end of it all I would only recommend them if time and availability of other providers are not an option."

Small jobs welcome

"We were very appreciative of D&W offer of service on December 30th right before a holiday and next day service after we called several businesses which could not offer any service for a week or a month! Professional diagnosis clearly laid out options for the repair and the plumber was able to discuss them and answer questions. Clean, careful work, punctual and polite. Recommend this company for being client-oriented, responsive to our crisis and their rapid availability."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Salem, OR

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
