"Called 5 electricians for a small job replacing an outdoor porch light. I had the light bought just needed an electrical guy to install it. No one called back! Turns out I didn't need an electrician, I needed a Handyman, they are the best! Licensed, insured, can do almost anything, everything in one nice neat little package. Went to HomeAdvisor on a Sunday morning, typed in all the required information. One hour later got a call from Josh Powell owner of Powell Handyman Service. I told him what I needed, we made plans for 9am on Tuesday. He calls me back on Monday around 2:30pm says he just completed a job near me and wondered if he could come over and put the light up. He got at my house 45 minutes later, he is personable, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He accessed the job quickly and had the light put up in one hour. How freaking cool is that! For 6 months I was looking for an electrician and Josh fell out of HomeAdvisor. LOL. I've got a couple other things I want to talk to him about. Great guy, great price, honest, fast hard worker, cleans up after the job. What more can you ask for."

"I had Home Solutions Handyman replace a wooden door between my garage and home. The original door never really closed that well, strong windstorms would often blow it open despite being locked, and had about a one inch gap between the bottom of the door and interior flooring that we had to use a draft snake to keep the heat/air from going out into the garage (and bugs from just walking in). After being annoyed with this door since I purchased my home twelve years ago, I finally decided to do something about it. The gentleman who came out to do the estimate was prompt and listened to my thoughts and what I wanted from the replacement. I received a detailed and accurate quote via email a day or two later. The quote was only for labor and stated that I would supply the replacement door and lock set. I didn't have an issue with that since it allow me to pick out a door from a local big box store with a minimum of dents or other damage and get a lockset that matched the others in my home. The technician, named Steve I believe, was on-time and seemed very detailed with his work ensuring the door was properly installed. He went the extra mile to make sure I was happy. After a couple of weeks, the door works perfectly fine and we are very happy with the quality of his workmanship. I am certainly considering Home Solutions Handyman for other carpentry projects I need done around the house as our budget allows."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
