"Yes! Eduardo and his son did a great job and I highly recommend them to anyone. There’s a lot of contractors who reached out about this project but what I really liked and one of the reason why I hired them because when Eduardo came out to look at the projects he listened and and then he shared with me his thoughts, unlike the others who just insisted this and that and I even almost kicked one out of the house already. After all, we the homeowners are the customers . Anyways, there’s more projects ahead of us and I definitely don’t mind having them to come out for estimate. We showed photos to friends and families and they all loved it."

"He is awesome. He is very trustworthy and his prices are good. He is a nice guy. I spent $25000 on that work. He and his sub-contractor, who is a general contractor, but he does a lot of work himself. He also helped me to rebuild the whole outside of my house, really old house and he saved me from lots of money from another company. He worked with me on my budget and he is very conscientious about the prices and what he is going to do. If anything, he will give me more than my money’s worth. He is a totally awesome guy."

"Dave did a kitchen remodel on my rental after water damage required cabinets and flooring to be replaced. He did excellent work so when someone drove into the corner of the rental garage in Dec 2019, I hired him to fix the foundation, replace the siding, and install a new door. Again, he did exceptional work. I hired him to remodel my bathroom spring of 2020. I still gaze around and appreciate the difference the remodel made. Nov 2021, a storm blew a tree branch through my roof. He removed the branch, repaired the roof, replaced the area of the ceiling impacted, sprayed the popcorn on the ceiling and applied 2 coats of paint. His rates have always been reasonable. His work is consistently exceptional. I know if I need work done in the future, I will reach out to Padilla Construction first."

"Tom Wright was great to work with.  Very respectful of our budget.   <br> <br>Overall the quality of workmanship is excellent.  Tom pays attention to details and offered suggestions that really helped make the house look good but did not cost a lot.    There were a couple of change orders I added after the original proposal was signed that did increase the cost of the project.   Tom did his best to keep those costs reasonable. I was more than comfortable with the additional costs.    <br> <br>There were a couple of small glitches that I attribute to communication snafu... usually on my part.  There was one  error in ordering a window (wrong color)  that Tom completely owned and corrected at no charge to me.     <br> <br>I enjoy renovating and redecorating so I might have been a more hands-on client than others.  Tom was willing to work with me on things like purchasing fixtures.  I bought some things, he provided others.    My husband and I are doing all the painting. Tom worked with our schedules so things that needed to be done by us could happen on the weekend and not hamper his schedule.   He appreciates owner's sweat equity.  <br> <br>We are very happy with the result.   I highly recommend Tom Wright, Pyramid Remodeling & Construction <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br>"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Shelton, WA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
