"Highly recommend this company. Damian gave me a fair quote of $425 to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet for EV charging and was able to complete the job the same day. Professional, responsive, punctual, and the work came out clean and solid. Everything was explained clearly and the whole process was smooth. I’d definitely use him again for future electrical work."

"T.E.C. Electric was outstanding , professional, communicated with me through the process and affordable. Rodney came out to assess a main breaker panel replacement for my home that was built in 1984. He found the main breaker was starting to fail which was causing power issues without tripping any breakers. The issue was causing certain half the panel to sporadically lose power and come back on randomly. He recommended replacing the whole panel and informed me what the process would require regarding permits, coordinating with APS and the City. All went smooth and the work was excellent. I would definitely hire T.E.C. Electric again. This is a owner operator company and the work is done by code and completed in a professional manner. Definitely 5 stars for this company. Thank you Rodney!! Also thank you Angie for having this Company on your list. Don Hestand/ Glendale"

"Michael Brandt is very knowledgeable, he explained my options, and worked quickly to upgrade the breakers in my panel. He installed a whole house surge protector to my panel, and also a surge protector to my AC unit. I have a tricky light fixture in the front yard, he will be back on Monday with the parts to repair it. In the future if I have any electrical needs, I will definitely call Mr. Sparky."

"RPT Electric did an outstanding job wiring the new addition to my home. From start to finish, they were professional, reliable, and easy to work with. The crew showed up on time every day, kept the workspace clean, and made sure everything was done safely and up to code. They took the time to explain my options, helped with lighting layout ideas, and made sure every outlet, switch, and fixture was exactly where I wanted it. The finished work looks great, and everything functions perfectly. It’s clear they take pride in their craftsmanship. I’d highly recommend RPT Electric to anyone needing electrical work done—whether it’s a remodel, addition, or new build. Great people and top-quality service!"

"The owner returned my call quickly and was able to send a tech out the next day. Service was provided in a very prompt and professional manner. The issues we had in our home were complex, the techs kept digging until all issues were resolved. Price charged was far less than I would have expected for the time and effort spent. I highly recommend Reiko Electric!!!!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Sun City West, AZ

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
