"Prior to actual carpet installation, Irv Mauran of I'M Flooring made himself available to us to help select our carpet and padding, pointing out the advantages/disadvantages of our different options. Once we had narrowed our selection down to two choices, we brought the samples home and Irv came to the house to do the measurements and give us our final estimate. <br /> <br /> While Irv was at the house for the estimate, we decided to use the old carpet in our basement laundry room, and also to have the upstairs bedrooms carpeting stretched, which had seriously buckled due to improper installation by another contractor. These additional services were quoted cheerfully and at a very reasonable additional cost to our installation estimate. <br /> <br /> The carpet we had selected was special ordered, and Irv kept us apprised of its manufacturing status - it actually came in ahead of schedule! Once in, Irv promptly scheduled a day to do the installation, and made sure to have the carpet laid out at the retailers location to smooth out any slumps that might have occurred in transport. <br /> <br /> On the day of the installation, Irv called first thing in the morning to tell us when he would arrive; he arrived promptly at his designated time with his assistant, and they wasted no time removing the furniture and tearing up the old carpet. All the while, both of them were very courteous, and even cheerfully worked around our two dogs' curiosity! <br /> <br /> The rooms to be carpeted are fairly large, with an archway between them, requiring a seam in the doorway; even with the fairly intricate pattern of our chosen carpet, Irv was able to match the seam perfectly. <br /> <br /> The work progressed very quickly, and even with the extra stretching and laying of the carpet downstairs, all was accomplished in a very short time; all the while, they maintained a very clean and orderly work area, and carefully vacuumed up when all was complete. <br /> <br /> We are extremely please with the level of service we received from I'M Flooring and - in particular - Irv Mauran. Since we had chosen a high-end carpet, we expected high-end service to ensure our continued enjoyment of our carpet and we were not disappointed. <br /> <br />"

"After wind blew off a portion of our roof, Advanced responded within an hour to tarp and secure the roof from further damage. This lasted well into the evening on a Friday, and not so much as a complaint from the response crews working on a steep and high roof on this windy night. <br /> Following the tarping of the roof, they handled each and every detail with my insurance adjuster, assisting us with a full and reasonable settlement for the repairs needed. Once they removed the damaged ceiling in our upstairs play room, mold was discovered and a remediation of this was <br /> performed complete with testing. <br /> <br /> This was important to us, because we have heard that this can be tricky when selling a home to disclose the problems and how they were taken care of. A nice insurance policy to say that the mold was taken care of the right way. Repairs started and were complete almost overnight. The crews there were very respectful to our home, and accommodating to our needs. The project manager said at the start of the job that their goal in all of this was to all of this was to make it easy to have a disaster, and I feel that that is exactly what they did. <br /> <br /> Thanks Mike, Darik, Chris, PJ, Pete and the rest of the crews. You guys are great."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Warren, PA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
