"Overall, Mark (owner of Nail & Pails) was extremely professional and personable, and our counter top looks beautiful. Mark returned our phone call in a timely manner and was very prompt in responding to our inquiry, scheduling a visit within the week. He came to see us for a consultation to determine if the job was within the scope of his ability, which it was, and we discussed the specific details of our situation (extending counter top, not having a beveled edge, L corner, floating installation). We purchased our counter top from another retail store and Mark worked around the arrival schedule as we waited for it to come in. He also quoted us a specific price and a specific amount of time to complete the job. As far as the actual work goes, Mark was extremely detailed oriented and he took special precaution when combining the two counter tops at the corner. Rather than just gluing at the corner, he created a system to combine them underneath to create a tight joint, and used glue as a secondary support. This is just one example of how he went above and beyond expectations to provide us with a better service. Though Mark worked diligently, it took him a few extra hours to complete the job. He honored his original price despite working extra hours and was very thorough with the clean up afterward; he even volunteered to take away some of the extra old counter top! We did have some unforeseen house issues arise throughout the installation, and Mark had solutions to each one, but he also informed us of approximate prices while he was fixing the problems so we were not taken by surprise when our total was slightly higher than the quoted price. Throughout the process, Mark offered solutions to other kitchen remodeling questions (cabinet wall space, tile backsplash, etc.) and he volunteered to help us with other projects if we needed help. At the end of this process, we have a beautifully installed counter top that has held up well over time. Additionally, Mark was easy to talk to and very pleasant. I would absolutely recommend Nails & Pails for other handyman projects to both family and friends, and I will likely be using his services again in the future!"

"They did a spectacular job considering what they had to work with when they started. The roof is exceptional. I don't have any leaks and I don't have roof shingles blowing off in my yard or the neighbors' yard; it is wonderful. The thing that I was most impressed was that they cleaned up after they were done. These guys went out and made sure that the nails were up and everything. I was just very pleased. I have recommended them to a friend. The price included the tear off of the old roof. At some places there were three to four layers of roofing shingles thick and there was a layer of wood shakes. People had just gone over and over it. I was way beyond the village code, but I bought the house like that. It leaked and I tarred it until I got enough money to get the roof done. They also insulated over the porch for me. They did the garage roof as well. I absolutely had no complaints. I had a lot of people into my house to do work. This was the first group of people that I have had here that did what they promised and cleaned up their mess. I had no problems and no need to call them back. I got prices from several other people. They weren't the cheapest, but they were right down there. It was a fair price. They had it done when they said they would have it done."

"The job was done quickly and neatly.  As problems or choices became apparent, Mr. Marion called immediately and discussed them all with us and quoted the added expense accurately.  The house looks much improved with the work done.  I would certainly use Mr. Marion again."

"I hired Ben Garrett to finish remodeling my mom's home, part of which was built in the late 1800's, with several renovations and additions since then. Most recently work had been started in many rooms of her house, but circumstances did not allow the work to be completed. Then I found Ben, who signed on to do a ton of work on a very tight (and limited) budget. <br /> Ben was patient with our project, doing a couple of walk-throughs to just take everything in -- and it was a lot. We needed floors, walls, ceilings, closets, bathrooms, stairs -- pretty much everything from A to Z. Ben helped us with the designing of the project, based on our general ideas and came up with a very detailed estimate, breaking the work into understandable phases. He helped incorporate and integrate some of the original/old-style details (posts, beams) from the older parts of the house, and used some of our 'found lumber' to incorporate old wood features into the new walls, keeping some of the charm of the original farm house. Ben was also able to balance our complicated asks (such as installing a closet, with access from two sides, over the basement stairs) by offering simpler design solutions to other areas, allowing us to do more with our budget. <br /> The estimate he gave us was perfect for the bank from a financing and inspection perspective, and was perfect for the local code officer. He also allowed us the opportunity to do some of the demolition ourselves, which helped balance out costs on the project. <br /> Throughout the project, which took over four months to complete, he was extremely considerate of me, my mom, her house and her belongings. The work was done in a way that allowed her to stay in her home and not have to leave during project, even when he was doing demolition. <br /> The project took many twists and turns; things that looked easy turned crazy, and even some of the crazy things turned crazier. No matter what happened, Ben stayed calm and was careful to explain to me what changes would need to be made, what our options were, and what the costs would be. This was very important for me, because I live 30 minutes away, and we needed to do a lot of communicating via phone, email and text to keep things on track. <br /> He stuck very close to the initial timeline and our budget, and we had detailed change orders as needed. We passed all inspections (electrical, plumbing, codes officer, and bank inspector/assessor) with flying colors, with many complements on the quality of work that Ben did. We are thrilled with the results and would highly recommend Ben and Silverline Builders. <br />"

"I visited there showroom and spoke to Sandy, very informative and very professional. There isn't a question that she doesn't have an answer to. She walked us through each step and showed us what type of materials would be used in order to install the countertops. The timing was our most difficult piece to the puzzle and both Sandy and her Husband were able to accommodate. We wanted this project done while our family was on vacation so we didn't have to deal with the mess. Aurora stone was able to come to the house that week and laser the area for measurements. Once they had the measurements they needed a week to complete the order and prepare for install.  While we were gone Sandy and our general contractor coordinated the install and when we got back from vacation our new sink and countertops were installed. I love supporting local business and Aurora stone is one of the best. <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Waterloo, NY

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
