"They gave me a very acceptable price for doing the three coats of polyurethane and sanding. It includes taking out the carpet and doing away with it. I am paying them extra to move the heavy furniture. They have come out twice. They are on Angie?s List. They quoted me about $1750. I called them the second time to talk to them further about exactly how it would proceed since I am planning on using them. The guy came over and we talked about it. Then he left and I am going to call him today to see when he could start. I have to move the small stuff before he comes and moves the heavy furniture. Everything about them during the quoting process was excellent. I may use them again. In fact, I am also going to talk to them about finishing the rest of the floors.

The floors are finished and they look wonderful.  The price did not include the strips around the sides of the wall at the floor so it was a little more, but I am well satisfied and will certainly ask them to work on my other floors.

You do have to call them to remind them when you are at the talking stage, but when it came to the work, they were there on time and finished when they said they would."

"We really appreciate his honesty about the work required. We thought our only option was complete refinishing, he advised that our floors were in good condition and he could focus on those spots that were badly worn. They turned out great. Thank Rush"

"I had had other carpet cleaners in the past but had used The Carpetman exclusively for a number of years and they were loyal.  I am sorry that I no longer have a carpet but wanted to let others know that this company in my experience is professional and will do a good job.  They keep their appointments, are punctual, and as I say do quality work."

I  am still waiting on shoe molding to match the floor in the stair way entrance to the 2nd floor landing( 3 weeks). It is oak flooring with with shoe molding, notice immediately when landing on the up stairs entry way.   I did discuss my concerns about the stair case landing and was told the piece was ordered and I need to pay my final payment  per manger/owner(paid 1/2 to begin and 1/2 at finish).

Some laminate is not laying down smoothly may come up in the future.  The casing around the door is not touching the floor. Carpet was taken up so the door door casing do not come down to met the floor. Trying to come up with a solution to repair which would not be costly to pull the frames around doors.  I have four doors, which is 8 door frames sides that would have to be repaired.  I wish I had known the casing was going to be an issue and was not  included in the cost.  You would think a floor installation business would know what the installation would need.   I googled the internet, and I have seen a solution called kick casing.  You would think a professional floor installation company would  suggest or fix the problem.

Company did comeback and replaced the molding on the landing and it looks good. Re-glued a spot that was coming up.

FAQs for carpet installation projects in West Point, GA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
