"From our first phone conversation it was quite apparent that Ken Marchi is the consummate professional. He briefly explained his &#39;process&#39; and his independence from those who perform home repairs. Ken&#39;s examination of our home exterior revealed the true cause of worrisome stains and hairline cracks in the stucco wall, and the appropriate corrective measures that WE could perform ourselves. As he left, Ken noted three installation issues in the garage that would not meet fire safety standards; and he described the steps WE could take to correct those issues, without hiring others. I am sorry you were disappointed but the documents I provided to you which outline the inspection items which are included as per SC State regulations specifically exclude irrigation systems for obvious reasons. Numerous systems may be present in homes and we cannot determine how to operate each one properly therefore no irrigation systems are ever included. In 24 years of inspections, this has never been an issue. Sorry for the confusion.

"Do not hire this man. He was negative, reproachful, and stayed way too long in my house (He sat down at my dining room table and told me about his troubles for an hour). He ripped my front porch screen with his ladder and down-played the damage. He did not pay to fix or replace it. He took paneling down to see my AC unit, then put the panels back upside down. He did not have one positive thing to say about my house. Please, dont hire him."

I am sorry you were disappointed in my investor type inspection. As I indicated at the inspection, this rental property was in deplorable condition and I spent all of my time warning you about issues but apparently you were not interested in what I was saying. I have the pictures to prove my reporting and in 24 years of home inspections have not seen many houses in this condition. Your safety and security was my primary concern. I realize you are going through some personal issues and accept the fact that you wanted someone to support your purchase decision but that is not what I was engaged to do. I tell it exactly like it is about every house I inspect. I did not damage your screen at the front porch, I brought it to your attention that along with many other issues at this home, this was one of them. Quite minor in context based on the conditions at your rental. Inspectors are not required to remove paneling to inspect anything. Home inspections are visible at readily accessible items; removing the paneling was not an accessible item and if you recall you used your electric screw driver to remove the panels. I helped with taking them off and you said you were going to put them back since you did remove them. Clearly your displeasure is noted and I wish you well in your endeavors. As far as sitting at your dining room table which is where you were working; that was the only place you have furniture where I could sit and review my findings with you. I am sorry if you felt put upon. Clearly, at least 122 people disagree with your evaluation of my work as my rating will bear out. Be Blessed and enjoy your stay in Savannah.

Ken is licensed by the State of New Jersey and the State of South Carolina as a Professional Home Inspector. He holds certifications as a Carbon Monoxide Technician and as a Microbial Technician (to inspect for and take samples of mold for laboratory analysis).
