"We used Above & Beyond Construction to gut and remodel one full and one half bathroom in our 1960-built house. This was our first big home remodeling project and we couldn’t have been happier with the results. Chester and his crew were easy to work and communicate with, kept us updated with timing and progress, and identified additional issues that needed to be addressed (aka some really nasty old corroded cast iron pipes and cracked joists in our basement) to prevent future catastrophes. If we hadn’t fixed them we know we’d have ended up having to rip out the beautiful new bathroom within 6 months due to the failure of the old plumbing! They take pride in their work and take care to protect the rest of the house from dust and dirt, completely clean up the work site at the end of every day, and we had no problem trusting any of them in the house when we couldn’t be home. There were no budget surprises, either; the estimate was right on target. When we get up the nerve to tackle the gut rehab of our old kitchen we will look no further than Above & Beyond Construction!"

"We met with several local contractors here in Lincoln Park Chicago for a bathroom remodel in our high-rise condo. After meeting with Jakubek, we knew we found our contractor and needed to look no further. During their visit to our property to evaluate the project we immediately felt their honesty and we could tell they understood exactly what we wanted to accomplish. When we received their estimate and scope of work, they captured every single detail, itemized in line items. They also provided separate line items for optional pricing on things that we wanted to consider but were not sure we wanted to do or not do. For example, replace our bath tub or keep the one we had. In addition to all that, their quote was the lowest of all their competitors and their timeline for construction was the shortest as well! We signed our contract and scheduled the project. Sadly shortly after, and through unforeseen circumstances on MY part, I had to cancel the project. Jackubek understood my situation was unavoidable and immediately offered to refund our full deposit which they did. This family owned business was by far the most professional detailed, honest and caring company we could have ever found. We highly highly recommend them to anyone as we will recommend them to all of our friends and family looking to remodel any type of project. "Jody and Brian did a fantastic job remodeling our 5.5x8.5’ hall bathroom in July 2019 as well as completing some other projects around the house. Basically, we were so happy with the job they did remodeling our master bathroom in 2017 that we hired them again in 2019 to gut and remodel our hall bathroom. We had to wait until they had an opening in their schedule but it’s always worth the wait because they’re such nice guys, so easy to work and communicate with, always on time, clean up at the end of the day, have good ideas and do quality work. Life got a little busy since then so I’m just now getting around to writing this review. Our hall bathroom was functioning, but mainly as a powder room because although it had a tub, it had no plumbing for a shower. It had some other issues we wanted to deal with as well. Jody and Brian took care of everything as usual, including beefing up the floor for the cast iron tub, making sure the bathroom exhaust actually vented out the roof, providing ideas and recommendations when needed, and ensuring my 2 large shower niches came out how I planned. While they were here, we also had them (or their electrician or plumber when necessary) upgrade our electrical panel, replace a bar faucet, replace 2 back doors, add LED lighting and custom glass shelves to our bar cabinet, replace 2 hanging bedroom light fixtures, do some painting around the house, etc. The total bathroom cost (including some small painting projects around the house) was approx $28,500. But with the electrical panel upgrade, new back doors, etc., the total for the bathroom plus all work completed around the house was close to $34k. We could have technically done the bathroom with quality finishes for around $19k with them, but we went over budget on certain bathroom elements that we really wanted, such as a 65x32” cast iron tub, Cambria quartz countertop and shower niche shelves, $900 Walker Zanger floor tile, $750 for 2 Robern medicine cabinets, an $1800 semi-custom Starmark vanity, $350 vanity light fixture and $400 sink faucet. But we could have easily done a very nice, quality bathroom with different choices within our allowances. We didn’t bother getting other bids for the hall bathroom remodel because we knew we were going with CCCM no matter what. We did get 3 bids for the 2017 master bath remodel because it was our first remodeling project, and CCCM wasn’t the cheapest but also wasn’t the most expensive. I left a review back in July 2017 for the master bath which we’re still extremely happy with. Terry also did a great job again getting us the best prices with contractor discount included on everything we picked out at various vendors and also kept in touch with us via email while we waited for our turn for our bathroom project to begin. Thanks so much to Terry, Jody, and Brian for your hard work making sure our hall bathroom turned out beautifully!"

"He was nice enough to come to our home and gave us an estimate on some additional work we wanted done. We were not ready in late 2017 to start. We contacted him Spring of 2018 and never received a response. It was very disappointing because we thought we could trust him since he initially did a great job for us. We contacted him via Angie List, business email, and cell phone to no avail."

"Remodel went extremely well even with material delays (not ordered through Rowe construction.) They were able to pivot and work on different areas of this extensive remodel. This crew showed up every day and notified us if they were not going to come or if they were delayed.They also pointed out and/or were able to troubleshoot areas of design that wouldn’t look aesthetically pleasing. In addition, they cleaned up the interior each day and regularly picked up construction waste placed in the garage during this process."

"Gordon’s team did a really good job remodeling my bathroom and my unfinished basement. Their new drywall & flooring installation work great and they did a good job with the plumbing & electrical adjustments I needed done. They cleaned up the mess they made daily and tried to keep the rest of the house clean and dust free. Total cost for both basement & bathroom remodel was $23900. There were some additional remodeling costs that I didn’t budget for initially but Gordon was willing to work with me on making payments for the additional features that were added to the remodel. Overall they are a good company and I’m happy with the work they did."

"We would highly recommend G&G Kitchen and Bath. We were a little nervous about having our kitchen cabinets painted, but they needed to be updated and modernized. We weren't looking to remodel our entire kitchen. We called Frank's company after reading reviews on Angie's List. Frank came to our house and listened to our needs & concerns. He and his crew had great suggestions, ideas, and options on how to make our kitchen updated, functional, & aesthetic looking, all while keeping the cost within our budget. We had our kitchen updated with paint, new cabinet doors, a new backsplash, & kitchen knobs. This can be challenging during a Covid-19 pandemic but Frank & his crew made it work within our schedule. He and his crew were professional and pleasure to work with. We are extremely happy with the workmanship and quality of our remodeling experience and would highly recommend G & G Kitchen and Bath to our family and friends."

"My interior designer crafted a plan to modify some existing built-ins in a bedroom. I contacted three carpenters to submit a proposal based on the sketch provided by my interior designer. Based on other reviews I decided to contact Old World Carpentry, Restoration, and Repair. Mr. Burns arranged an appointment to come discuss the project with me and present a proposal. After he cancelled our initial appointment, he showed up on-time after we rescheduled. He was extremely gracious and personable when discussing the project. Within two days, he texted me a rough estimate for labor that was simply too high. His proposal wasn't the highest I received, but I did receive a much more competitive bid that included labor and materials from a carpenter who has worked with my interior designer on other projects. I greatly appreciated Mr. Burns's interest in my home and my project and I wouldn't hesitate to contact him should I need any other carpentry or remodeling work in the future.
