"I hired Kyle for a $14,000 home remodeling project based on reviews from Angie's List and Yelp, and overall, I am satisfied with the work Kyle and his team performed and I feel like I got my money's worth. Below are my thoughts: 1. Timeliness: Kyle's crew showed up on time every day and stuck to the schedule. The entire project stayed mostly on track. Things were slightly delayed due to city inspection, but that was a factor beyond Kyle's control. So definitely an A there. 2. Quality of work - I had three major projects in this remodeling, and below are my thoughts on them: a. Conversion of a bedroom into a mudroom/entry room to garage: For some reason this new house I bought did not have an access door from garage directly into the house, so I hired Kyle to remedy this by turning a bedroom that shares a common wall with the garage into a mud room with an access door. Job involved cutting the wall open and installing a fire rated entry door, as well as removing old wall paper and repainting the room. This job was done very well and definitely an A there. b. Bathroom remodeling: I also had Kyle remove an old bathtub & tile surround and replace it with a new jacuzzi tub, new tiles and an updated tub door. We also had the toilet repositioned as well. Final quality of work was very nicely done and we were very pleased with how the new tiles turned out. Regrettably, the new bath tub got a small 1" size scratch on one of the rim and I had to touch up paint it afterwards. So A-/B+ there due to my new tub getting scratched up during tile installation. c. House electrical upgrade: I had Kyle and his crew installing an 100 amp subpanel with 2x 50 amp outlets in the garage for EV charging. I also had multiple new outlets installed throughout the house. All the newly installed outlets worked very well and I am pleased with the results. However, after all the electrical work were done, three of my outlets in the house lost power due to a "open neutral". To make a long story short, Kyle's crew tried to trouble shoot it for the better part of a day but couldn't figure out what caused it. All the worker could say is that he doesn't think it was caused by their work. As this happened at the very end of the entire remodeling project and I was uncertain whose fault it was, I ended up just letting it go. Subsequently I did more troubleshooting on my own and after several hours of trial-and-error testing using a multimeter, I found a loose neutral wire in a bathroom switch box Kyle's crew worked on. The loose neutral wire was covered up by a bunch of other wire and wire nuts in the switch box. Once that wire was reconnected, the three dead outlets became functional again. My guess is that the wire got shaken loose when Kyle's crew swap out the switches in that box with new light and fan switches, and no one realized it because that wire was buried behind other wires. I can understand how Kyle's worker missed it while trying to trouble shoot this issue. However, I'm still a bit miffed that I end up having to fix this problem myself. Thus, while the newly installed outlets are great, I am not too thrilled with the fact that his worker knocked a wire loose while changing out bathroom switches and couldn't fix the problem. So on this part of the project, I would give Kyle's team an A on the new outlets and C for causing collateral damage on my other outlets that I had to fix myself. 3. Conclusion - other than the problems with the loose neutral wire and the scratch to the new tub noted above, everything else went smoothly. Thus, in light of the scope of this remodeling project, I decided that these two issues are minor and don't detract too much from the overall success. Thus, I ended up giving Kyle and his crew an A- overall."

Micky and his team are simply superb — every team he brought in did top notch work, including tiles, flooring, plumbing, electrical, countertop, cabinets, glass, stucco, windows, drywall, and more. Micky coordinated everything to perfection, ensuring the project was progressing day to day, sometimes hour by hour. The only “negative” was that we had to work hard to keep up with their impressive pace (in terms of making decisions and ordering needed supplies) and it was well worth it! "I honestly don’t know where to begin. Working with Mike and HIC Builders to remodel my kitchen and bathroom was an overall amazing experience with so many positives. It was my first time remodeling my house. There were so many aspects of concern and stress. From the very first meeting with Mike, he completely put me an ease, and talked to me in detail on what they could do and the approximate price point. Throughout the initial phase, I contacted and met with over 6 different companies, and of course, the estimates that I received were all over the map. HIC Builders estimate was very manageable and, best of all, precise. There weren’t any surprises at the end of the remodeling job. What Mike said on day 1 was exactly what it turned out to be. After my meeting with all the other companies, I was debating between Mike and one other company. At this point, I also decided to downsize my remodeling to save some extra money. The other company was immediately hesitant to take on the job now that their profits had shrunk, whereas Mike was the complete opposite. He went into revision mode and was quick to come up with an alternate plan that we could do now that my budget had changed. That really impressed me. His ability to maneuver and work with different financial circumstances while maintaining a high quality of work. It also showed me that he cared about my project, even after the scope of the work had become smaller. I now know he has many projects going on at any given time, but you wouldn’t have guessed it by the attention and excellent communication he provides. I never felt like I couldn’t reach out to him for questions (and I had many) or clarifications in each phase. For me, choosing the right contractor came down to trust. I was remodeling from out of town, so I couldn’t check in on the process on a constant basis. Mike kept me informed every step of the way and eased my anxiety if anything popped up. If an issue or potential issue came about, he would bring it up to let me know this or that happened, but then he would tell me that it was no problem to deal with, and provide a solution as how he planned to work around it. The entire process was always transparent and clear. I could go on and on about what sets HIC Builders apart, but I hope this gives you a snapshot on why they are the right contractors for the job. I have zero complaints and they went beyond my expectations. Best of all, the end result looks like a million bucks."

"It started as a simple bathroom remodel. Ortam showed me some problems in my plumbing, and eventually it became a full house remodel. Bathroom, kitchen, floors, forced air, power box, windows, and paint, interior. It was an overall good experience. The house looks good, and everything works. The measure of the overall job will come over the next 10 to twenty years, as I see if everything continues and problems are held to a minimum. Overall 5 stars"
