My service call involved a charge as it was Service, labor plus Freon to be added to my unit and the outside unit's battery. Since I have a contract with McCrea, I was not charged for the part that was to be replaced on my unit. My house is slowly cooling down as it was 90 degrees inside my home when she arrived this morning. My house lost the air conditioning on the Fourth of July and on a very hot day. We are a small family owned Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) company located in Sharpsburg, MD. "Last year, I asked this company to come take a look at a heat pump I had at a rental unit in Gettysburg. One of their technicians came out and according to my tenants, was there for less than a half hour. He recommended replacing the heat pump (which also requires replacing the inside air handler according to them). I was invoiced for this visit, and then contacted by the sales team. I talked with someone on their sales team about pricing, and they gave me fair and competitive prices on the inside and outside units. They did walk me through several options and were able to meet my time frame since I had tenants without AC in the hottest month of the year. Before spending thousands of dollars, I asked a friend of the family for a second opinion. He was able to repair the heat pump for under $350 in parts and labor. I paid him $500 for his work (since he saved me thousands!). I contacted Holztople's owner about my experience. They cancelled the invoice for the service call and sent me a certificate for $100 on a future service (which is great customer care in my opinion). It seems like they would be great to work with on a new installation. Be cautious with any tech from any company. Make sure they do their due diligence before they try to turn you over the the sales team. The heat pump is running fine almost a year later, and I have not needed to use the $100 gift certificate."
