"Patrick started servicing our Furnace and Central Air conditioning systems a few years ago. He is so efficient, pleasant, and easy to work with that we specifically asked for him now twice a year for our annual Heating system check and also annually for our Air-conditioning system check. This trip he also had a trainee with him, and did a great job of allowing the trainee to do the work, but carefully supervising at the same time. Highly recommend!"

"Joe, from Dryer Vent Wizard was very professional from initial phone call to notifying of arrival time. Several things needed to be handled in my case, venting in the attic, behind the dryer as well as washer hoses. While over all pricey, 8 thought this was fair for the time spent and thoroughness of the work. I purchased my home a couple years ago - and was not completely sure of everything needed (attic)"

Had a pricing problem with discrepancy about whether air returns were included or limited to only 1 return per system in the $199 Big Deal purchase.

The Big Deal voucher did not mention anything about a limit of one air return for each system cleaning. The technician after arrival gave the one air return limit per system with $32 extra charge for each air return thereafter.

A call to a manager was made to verify pricing. Acoording the manager a disrepancy existed between the Big Deal voucher lanaguage and actual corporate practice. We reached a compromise in which all air returns were included in the first system but the 1 air return limit applied to the second system added to the job. This resulted in an extra payment of $160 over the $199 per system Big Deal quoted charge.

"The man who came to my house to describe the furnaces and help determine which one I wanted could not have been more wonderful. He was helpful and efficient. We had agreed on a week when the work would be done. The installers called and wanted to come a week earlier. I okayed it, but it wasn't the best day for me. They were nice and efficient. The new furnace appears to be exactly what I wanted. However, the new thermostat control was a different size and shape from the original one and they didn't patch the holes or repaint the edges--not a big deal but when I got a security system a few weeks ago, they did do all that finishing."

"The company sent Joe Wambach out same day as I called for a/c service on a high demand day. Joe arrived on time and was one of the most pleasant HVAC people I've ever worked with, and we've worked with a few in recent years. He went right to work assessing the problems and doing the maintenance work on our equipment. He is a diligent worker, courteous, professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. He's a great representative for their company and I would hope they appreciate the quality of employee they have in Joe. I did not get other quotes on the a/c unit so I can't comment on price of unit, but it seemed reasonable with everything else that was done. The quote for replacing the air handler coils in attic seemed excessive to me at $2500 but I had no comps; we opted to use original coils."

"We had our upstairs apartment remodeled and needed three fixtures replaced. I purchased the ceiling fan and light fixtures and had Jeff install them. The house is old so the wiring was not in the best condition but Jeff said he had worked on many older homes. He did an excellent job, was very easy to communicate with and was very diligent in his work. After I had the ceiling around the fixtures redone after he installed them the person who re-plastered it could not screw the cap back on so I called Jeff and he came out and fixed it at no extra charge. Another company I called wanted to charge me for an estimate while Jeff gives free estimates, which was a plus. We are very pleased with his work and would highly recommend him!"

"It was okay but nothing special.   They did the air duct cleaning by blowing air through and capturing some dust in the basement.  They did not appear to remove any of the vent covers and they also offered to "spray" the ducts if we gave them a "tip".   After they left I needed to replace my furnace filter as it was full of the dirt and dust from the cleaning.   I also had to vacumn out my furnace as they left clumps of dust behind.

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Fredonia, WI

A standard blower door test takes between 30 minutes and one hour to complete. The process involves setting up specialized equipment in your doorway, running the fan to create pressure differences, and taking measurements throughout your home. Additional services like thermal imaging or detailed leak detection will extend this timeframe. The technician will also spend time explaining the results and making recommendations based on their findings.

Preparation involves turning off all combustion appliances, such as gas furnaces and water heaters, for safety. Secure all exterior doors and windows, but leave interior doors open to allow airflow throughout the house. Close fireplace dampers and cover any ashes to prevent them from being drawn into living spaces. Clear access to potential inspection areas like attics and crawlspaces, and inform everyone in the household about the test to prevent accidental door openings during the process.

Older homes often benefit most from blower door testing because they have more air leakage points than newer construction. The test can pinpoint specific areas where relatively inexpensive improvements will yield significant energy savings.

Many homeowners of vintage properties report noticeable reductions in drafts and more consistent indoor temperatures after addressing issues identified during testing. The potential utility savings often recover the testing cost within a reasonable timeframe.

New construction must meet increasingly stringent energy codes that specify maximum allowable air leakage rates. Meeting these standards requires careful attention to air sealing details during construction.

Success depends largely on properly installing air barriers, thoroughly sealing around penetrations, and quality control throughout the building process. While achieving code compliance is challenging, builders who implement systematic air sealing protocols succeed in meeting required standards.

It's best to schedule a follow-up test after completing all recommended air sealing and insulation work. This allows you to verify the effectiveness of your improvements as a complete package. Allow sufficient time for all sealing materials to cure properly—often a few weeks after completion. The verification test provides documentation of your home's improved performance and confirms you've addressed the issues identified in the initial assessment.
