He cleaned inside the furnace cabinet, cleaned the flame sensor, and checked the wiring. He checked that the carbon monoxide levels are within normal limits."

"The work was fine. However, after they left, I felt like an idiot for allowing them to push me into buying other-related services that resulted in the price more than doubling from the estimate. I knew that $99 was low for duct cleaning, so I talked about what other charges there might be & added dryer vent cleaning and furnace cleaning making the estimate $199. The technician suggested cleaning the air conditioner compressor outside, the water heater & some part of the furnace not already covered. I agreed to these extra services & expected to pay for them. However, I don't know why there was more to the furnace than that for which I already agreed to pay. And, I consider the amount charged for these services to be way out of line. I was an idiot for agreeing, but I don't like having been put in that position and I think they saw a sucker & took advantage of her. I'd prefer to know about other potential up-selling when I am making the appointment. If that doesn't matter to you, their work seemed fine."

"I would recommend Preston and Mallard Mechanical to anybody in the area looking to buy a new furnace/AC, or even just general HVAC maintenance. We closed on our house on a Friday with the AC not working and the furnace on its way out. We called Mallard Mechanical that morning and the equipment was ordered that same day and the install scheduled for the following Tuesday. The day of the install Preston was on site right on time and got our old AC and furnace torn out and the new system put in all in the same day. He was extremely professional and kept a VERY clean work site. He made sure to go over everything about the new system with my wife and I and even took care of setting up the city inspection for the new system. Last but absolutely not least, Mallard Mechanical's prices are extremely fair and I cannot imagine finding better service anywhere else for as good of a price as we got with Mallard Mechanical. "It went very well. The process leading up to the installation was informed and stress free. The estimate was done in November and it ended up being less cost wise than two other companies we solicited during the previous summer. This company was the only one that assured us they could install a high efficiency model despite the structure of the roofline. (The house was originally a flat roofed rambler and had a second floor added on top of the old roof). They also were the only ones who agreed that we could install a wireless sensor in a place we chose with no problems.  The crew was punctual and conscientious about placing tarps down to minimize dirt on carpeting, etc...  Clean up was also thorough. They started at 8:30 am and were finished by 2 pm. We were initially concerned about the noise of the furnace because we do not have a basement and the utility room is close to our bedroom. We were invited to go to the company owner's house to listen to his furnace which is the same model we were looking to install. That was a nice gesture that gave us confidence that we were getting a model we could live with. The ground was too frozen to install and level the air conditioner so they will come back in the spring to finish that but so far we are very happy with our purchase.

"Excellent professional service. Before the water softener system, I'd get brown mineral stains on my dishes, white puffy residue on my drinking glasses and around my stainless steel sink. Not anymore. The tech explained why I was getting these water problems and offered different water softner system options. Tech explained benefits of each system and how long each system would last. I e used this company 2 other times for another house that I used to own. They now take care of my HVAC needs, furnace, AIr conditioner and all my plumbing needs/ emergencies.
