I have a Carrier HVAC system, and the Air One technician recommended a complete system replacement, claiming the blower was bad, the furnace control board needed replacing, and that there were other issues. Since replacing the HVAC is a big investment, I wanted to get a second opinion. It was only after comparing the service from Bluestar that I realized Air One may have been pushing for a new system sale or lacked the expertise to properly diagnose and repair the actual problems. Isaac, the technician from Bluestar, spent about an hour thoroughly diagnosing and fixing the issues. He found burnt wiring in the furnace and discovered that the wrong capacitor had been incorrectly installed in the AC. Isaac replaced the burnt wiring in the furnace and the capacitor in the AC. After these repairs, my Carrier system was back up and running—without the need for a costly replacement. Bluestar, and Isaac in particular, demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and honesty. They focused on resolving the actual issues instead of pushing for an unnecessary system replacement. Then they actually gave me a quote to replace the entire air conditioning system for $10,000. So, it was horrible. I actually just talked with some friends who had had good experiences with another company and got a quote for $1000 to fix it, versus a $2000 quote to fix it, I had gotten from the other company. So, it wasn't a great experience. I had told them explicitly that my unit is on the roof. They didn't bring a ladder. This is downtown Washington DC and you all live in town houses. So, it's not that crazy to know that you need a ladder. They were responsive."
