"David from Cool Heat Mechanical was very professional. He explained what type of furnace would be recommended and allow us to make our decision. He guided us through the process and when the workers showed up they were professional, show up untime and leave the location clean . My furnace is looking amazing.Thank you 🙏🏾 Highly recommended."

"We hired Bertram to repair our central air. He arrived on time and did the repair. The repair should let us finish the season with the old season. We liked him, and have asked him to completely replace our system in the fall."

"I have the Total Mechanical Systems Total Comfort plan. It is wonderful I purchased the Comfort Plan when we installed our HVAC System. This is a great service plan for a reasonable rate. You get check ups on your HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.,You also have access to repair services, electricians, and plumbers at a discounted rate. Great overall plan to maintain your home or condo. Recently I had my annual Furnace/HVAC check up. The technician, Marquez, was professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Marquez really knew his stuff and explained to me how my furnace works and what the telltale signs are that I might need repairs. Fortunately I have not needed any repairs thanks to their great maintenance plan!"

"I can't say enough good things about Brian, who took care of this work for me. He returned my call promptly, listened carefully to what I needed, and was able to go out to my house within a few days to look at the space available for the two needed light fixtures. He then gave me excellent advice on the type of fixtures that would fit, and the exact sizees I needed to order, as well as what locations would work best for connecting them to the existing wiring. Using his advice, I was able to order the fixtures, which he then came out again to install. He obviously has good skills, but he was also prompt, efficient, honest, and very professional. I will not hesitate to contact him again when I need any further work done -- thanks Brian!"

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Windsor Locks, CT

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.

Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.

Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.

Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.

Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
