"I spoke with a gentleman at Harker, and said that we'd like to put in a whole house fan. He said they could do it, but that we'd also need to hire an electrician for some of the work necessary, and a general contractor to do some extra bracing. After he said that, he told me that if we were handy at all, we could probably do it ourselves, and that it wasn't really worth it to call them to come out and do it. I really appreciated his honesty. He could easily have said, "Sure, we can do that, but we'll be hiring some sub-contractors, so the price is pretty steep..." But he didn't - he actually steered me AWAY from hiring them! I don't think I've ever had a company discourage me from using services that they felt were unnecessary. I appreciated his honesty, and will definitely consider using them when we finally DO have a job that requires their expertise!"

"My initial phone call with the agent was a bit odd. He provided a quote. I was waiting on another quote before I decided. Later in the day I called to confirm I want Porch for the job. He scheduled my appointment. Or I thought he did. On the day of the appointment I no one showed. I called and was informed he did not activate a form request for the job so I had to reschedule. That was frustrating as I had rearranged my schedule be there. The actual job went fine. The person arrived a bit late (but called to inform me). He completed the task in a timely manner. He was very respectful of my home. He cleaned up after himself. And the appliance is working. Yeah!"

"Had a hot water heater that needed to be replaced, I ended up wanting a tankless unit. Jonathan was very detailed about its placement and what he needed to make the job work. He was very efficient and saved me a lot of money."

"We were SO pleased with the amount and quality of the work J B's Home Improvements did for us. Everything Jeff and his team worked on was done with obvious care and efficiency; they began working the moment they arrived and they stayed over our paid "Big Deal" time in order to complete the last two jobs on my list of 30+ items (replacing a lock and deadbolt on a door and installing a toddler-proof lock on a kitchen cabinet). The range of tasks they were able to handle was truly impressive, and they did so much in a limited time. We'd definitely hire J B's again in the future, and I recommend them for any household job.

"I pay $75 annually for a certain amount of appliances to be covered. What we didn't know is that you still have to pay a service call fee and if the technician deems the appliance still functional they will not fix it and if the technician says there is nothing wrong with the appliance, they will not fix it. In other words, the appliance has to be completely broken in order for them to fix it."

Yes, buying appliances in a bundle can save you money and reduce the cost per unit. Retailers often offer discounts when you purchase three or more appliances from the same brand together. This approach not only lowers your appliance expenses but also simplifies installation coordination, providing financial and scheduling benefits.
The best time to buy a new appliance is when your current one fails or during a renovation. Major shopping holidays like Black Friday and Labor Day offer seasonal sales with better discounts. Planning your purchase during these times helps you maximize savings and aligns with your home improvement plans.
When you buy a new appliance, many retailers will also remove and dispose of your old appliances when they come to install the new ones. To dispose of your old appliance yourself, start by safely disconnecting it. If it's no longer functional, you can recycle it. If it still operates safely, consider donating or selling it to recoup some value. Some retailers offer trade-in programs for discounts on new models. These options promote eco-friendly disposal and help reduce waste.
