"Installers were professional and friendly. Appreciated the texts and calls regarding arrival. Came back a second time to tuck away the power cord once we had an outlet installed near the awning."

"I would rate my experience with Costello's Awnings as 5 stars. My existing awning and framing were damaged in a late spring storm. I read good reviews about Costello's Awnings and gave them a call. Within an hour Margarete, the owner, returned my call and assured me that Costello's could fabricate and install a new awning within a 4 to 5 weeks. I went to their shop in Ocean City and picked out the fabric and style. (hundreds of colors, fabrics, and patterns from 5 or 6 manufacturers) They showed me an example of the new aluminum frame that would be used. (much stronger and better looking that the old steel frame that was being replaced) The Costello's fabricator came out to the house and made all the measurements and answered all my questions. They even took away the old, damaged frame. Margarete gave me a couple of suggestions and options which included a side, sun screen (for the late-afternoon sun) and an option for a powder coating on the two upright support poles. I chose both and was glad I did (The white powder coat blends great with the vinyl railing) The install was seamless and the Costello workers were very precise and professional. The new canopy looks great...very 'Ocean City beachy' and I get a lot of compliments from the neighbors. I highly recommend Costello's...from Margarete to all the craftsmen, they were great!"

Retractable awnings are not designed to be used in the rain. They are intended to provide shade on dry, sunny days, rather than protecting people and furnishings from precipitation, and certainly not against heavy storms. The retractable awning may be fine with a light drizzle, but you should retract it if you expect inclement weather or severe storms.
Depending on your local climate conditions, some retractable awnings can be used year-round, including during both winter and summer. However, you should carefully check the instructions for your specific product and find out what steps you should take to winterize the awning fabric. Sometimes, you can purchase a special cover to place over the material during winter.
Retractable awnings offer significant benefits by instantly enhancing outdoor comfort and protecting your furniture and living spaces from harmful UV exposure and inclement weather. They provide efficient shade that lowers cooling expenses and add a modern, stylish touch to your home’s exterior. Their installation extends the usable area of patios and decks while reducing maintenance needs by safeguarding surfaces against sun damage and rain.
