"Great job! Finished product was beautiful, looked just like the examples on their Facebook page. Site work was expertly done including removal of old deck debris, dealing with old concrete footers, concrete slab, etc. No problem for these experienced pros. Price was very much in line with other quotes we got, but First Impressions was professional, responsive and very easy to work with. Weather delayed the project significantly, but to me that means First Impressions is more interested in doing the job right than pouring when it's too cold, too wet, etc. We've already contracted with them for a driveway repair, so complete confidence in the work and would definitely recommend to others. Be patient, they're in high demand, but worth the wait."

"We recently had Rolland Cement do our stamped concrete pool deck and some driveway/sidewalk tear out and replacement. Rolland did our stamped concrete patio a couple years ago and it was awesome so we wanted to match it at the pool. Greg and his crew did not disappoint and the job came out exactly how we hoped. We would highly recommend Rolland Cement for any of your concrete needs."

"Of all the people that left bids this expert found a void under another adjacent slab. Our driveway is patterned concrete and the look could never be matched with a replacement slab. Knowledgable, articulate, and wore a mask when asked."

"Good alternative to replacing concrete. CLI Concrete Leveling out of Ypsilanti was the first to respond with an estimate for driveway repair at my home. I live in Kalamazoo. They are now going to do some work at my office and also do a neighborâ s driveway."

"We are very happy with our new concrete driveway. Had many other companies quote our driveway project, but Monumental Concrete had a great price and was able to complete the project quickly. They even redid the concrete steps leading to our house which another contractor messed up and never came back to correct. Will definitely use them again for any additional projects."

"Outstanding Help With Basement Water Leak Erik came to our home to evaluate a water leak that was coming through the concrete wall in our basement, and he was absolutely fantastic. He took the time to clearly explain the root cause of the problem and walked us through the proper repair options in a way that was easy to understand. What I appreciated most was his honesty and professionalism. He didn’t try to oversell anything — instead, he focused on educating us so we could make the right decision. His knowledge of basement foundations and water intrusion issues is impressive, and his recommendations gave us real confidence moving forward with the repair. If you’re dealing with any kind of basement water problem, I highly recommend Erik. It’s rare to find someone who is both highly skilled and genuinely helpful."

"I highly recommend Domenico for any patio/brick paving work. Dave went above and beyond to explain my design options and coordinate new pavers with my existing ones. The respect he demonstrates for his crew, is greatly appreciated as a customer and is apparent in the quality of their teamwork. The crew, led by Jose, were fabulous. Everyone arrived on time and worked diligently to complete my project by the end of the day. Their expertise and input made my patio turn out even lovelier than I’d imagined! Domenico is a class A company and I feel so fortunate to have connected with them through Angi."

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
