"Started off a day late but was informed in advance. Work moved steady, but paused waiting for the concrete supplier; again was informed so we could adjust the schedule. During design of the walks, we had full say and before each step in the prep and shaping, we had approvals. Before the pour, we made a design change without problems. All of this approval control made for an excellent set of walks. The driveway required edging the overgrown grass and dirt/water cleaning before the sealing."

"This job required removal of an extensive amount of existing concrete before the hardscaping could be installed.  In addition I was having another contractor install new plumbing lines to my existing pool skimmers and the 2 projects needed to be coordinated to keep the project on time and under budget. Kyle worked to communicate his timing and was able to schedule his work around the plumbing project . The things that impressed me most and why I wrote this review were -
  1.      * Attention to detail - everything was done at a high level of workmanship and efficiently
  2.      * Coordination of his work with other contractor-  Effective use of Email and Text to keep everyone on the same page
  3.      *When the hardscaping was complete the restoration and tie in of the new hardscaping was exceptional. Some of the specific           steps needed in the end were not detailed in the original proposal but Kyle took the right steps to ensure the look would meet         or in this case EXCEED our expectations.
    •      * Lawn area adjacent to the job site was cleared properly and reseeded with grass to finalize the work.

"Outdoor advantage did a superb job. They removed a large (20x12) fish pond that had been in place for over 30 years. They had to haul away about 6 tons of field stone then create a flat and level surface for the pool. They then seeded and put straw down on the bare area. They showed up on time and finished at the end of the day. Outdoor advantage is my go to company for any landscaping project. I've used them many times and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future."

"We had a very difficult jobsite. LOT of rock. On a slope. It took a while for them to get here (good companies are always busy!). Worth the wait. Crew arrived on time, worked clean, finished up on schedule and as expected. Quality was fantastic (higher grade boards, better concrete, set posts then come back the next day to do the main part b/c the posts need to set up). The owner visited the job site on the day they started and the day they finished. Really impressive commitment to the process. Every piece of this - from the sales guy to the billing to the crew was outstanding. Extremely pleased and would hire these guys again without any hesitation."

"I live in a 50 community in Frederick. After getting 3 estimates, I chose Pikazos Landscaping to expand my driveway (100 sq ft.). Rigo was Fantastic to work with (small language difficulty.) He came out to estimate, arrived on time on the chosen day, returned to finish. Payment was simple. Quality of the work, the concrete, the workmen -5 Stars. I’d recommend them."

"On one side of my home, I had a small section (around 8 ft) of old rusty chain link fence removed and replaced including having a small gate installed. On the other side of my home I had a small section (around 8 ft) of old chain link rusty fence and a double gate removed and replaced as well. They drilled a hole in the concrete for the metal bar that helps to keep things in place for the double gate, as there wasn't one previously. They did an excellent job and it looks great. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have fencing done.

FAQs for concrete work projects in New Windsor, MD

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
