"After years of painting our home it was time to move up to a better solution. After searching the Better Business Bureau for local companies Krumwiede Home Pros stood out. They were top rated with 0 complaints. We were even able to initiate contact for a quote through the BBB. Michael was our salesperson and he was upfront and honest in capabilities and pricing. The pricing was so great we even upgraded to an insulated vinyl siding and we were still under what others quoted. We then met with Ross the production manager who went over every aspect of the job with us. This was great because we worked out any issues ahead of time. There were no surprises and we were all on the same page. The 2 gentlemen who came to do the work were great also. They showed up on time and worked hard everyday. They never left a mess and were easy to communicate with. We are very happy with the whole experience and our house looks awesome! Thanks Krumwiede Home Pros we are happy we met you!"

"My overall experience with this company was exceptional. I compared six quotes when refinishing my kitchen and bathroom. Chicago home solutions group was by far and away the most professional and the overall best value. The finished product can best be described as amazing and Wow! I would recommend this company to anyone. This company truly cares about its customers and the outcome of the services they provide."

"Envy Home Services did an outstanding job building our sunroom for our family. Our installers, Luis and Horatio, built everything with a high degree of craftsmanship. Everything has a nice solid feel to it and feels like it will last for many years. Yancy, our project manager, worked with us to make sure any questions or requests we had were addressed to our satisfaction. Weâ re excited to have a nice new space for our family to spend time."

"The Excel salesman was great and showed me some sample windows. Excel did a great job. They arrived early and did a professional job. Their estimate was slightly higher, but the windows are excellent. I was very pleased with their work."

"It was a very good experience. Magda and Anna came to take the meticulous measurements needed, then Robert and Bogdan came every day at 7 am until 3 pm. Their work was neat and they cleaned up their work area before they left for the day. Peter, the project manager ensured that everything progressed in an orderly manner. Communication was constant and all questions were answered in a timely manner. My countertops are beautiful as is my special shelf for my heavy mixer so I do not have to lift it and it does not have to sit on my counter. My husband and I are very happy with the work and the results. I would definitely hire them again. Excellent work!"

"At first the cabinets looked fine, but a few weeks later there are notable flaws. The base areas that were not sprayed and instead rolled or brushed applied don't look uniform and the integrity is not good. I am constantly having to touch up small chips and am afraid the prep work was not up to standard. The cabinet doors and drawers that were removed and sprayed are faring better than the base areas, although I see bleed-through from the previous color. Overall, the integrity of the application is not solid and everything could have benefited from another coat of paint. The painters work quietly and methodically, but the overall finish is just not pristine. Good price and it's still a nice facelift from where the cabinets started."

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.
With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.
Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.
Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.
It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
