"It turned out really well. They did a great job. Responsiveness was pretty good. They were on time and they called ahead, which was nice. What stood out to me was the ability to be able to get in contact with the owner. He is also a designer as well, a landscape designer. He gave a lot of good ideas for some projects that we might do in the future."

"Dana and Retta came out to look at our house to help my husband and I decide what projects we might want to do (or not) that would increase our enjoyment of our existing home while keeping in mind the current value of the house now and the potential value of any major changes. I really wanted someone who could think outside the box in terms of rearranging the current floor plan without building an addition. They were able to make a few suggestions about possible projects and ballpark pricing for those projects so we can decide if we want to move forward with any or all of them (e.g. add a bathroom while moving walls to keep the same number of bedrooms). We may ultimately decide it's a better value to just sell our house as is and move to a different space that has more of the features we want. It was helpful to review the possibilities with people who actually do the work; I got what I expected from a consultation with a pro; a few ideas I hadn't thought of, confirmation that most of what I want would cost more than what I'm willing to spend on this house, and also felt confident that if I move forward on a project here or in the future I'd feel good about consulting with Dana and her team again."

Customers say: Quick response
"We hired Master Remodel & Construction after our master bathroom, kitchen and garage suffered major water damage after an interior flood caused by an overflowing toilet. Brian Inkley (owner) and Jacob Quick (project manager) have a team of dedicated, talented professionals. They did a superb job in restoring our damaged house. They are a busy team of workers who kept us appraised of their availability for the various stages of our restoration. For the repairs that they didn't do themselves they had excellent recommendations for the professionals we needed such as the carpet installation, closet system installation, kitchen cabinets and the refinishing of our hardwood floors. They seem to be in demand, working at several projects at the same time but we always felt that we were their top priority. Jacob worked with our homeowners insurance adjuster to be sure that the funds allocated for our losses were enough to complete our projects. We recommend Master Remodel & Construction with pleasure."

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.
With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.
Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.
Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.
It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
