"My wife and I recently decided to redo our walk-in closet. Because of my engineering background I drew up the plans and searched multiple cabinet shops throughout Orange County only to find that none except for one could provide me with the finished cabinets I hoped to get. Having been a customer of his for as long as he has been in business I should have realized that no one can compare with the craftsmanship that goes into each job that he does. Thank you Jacques, Angel, and the rest of the crew. You did what no others would do and I am truly thankful for that."

"We chose pre-fabricated granite slabs with standard bull-nose edge; therefore the good cost. The extra seams required by pre-fab are tricky and require superb craftsmanship. And that's what John Bailey of Coastal Kitchen & Bath provided. I'm so pleased to have encountered a core of honest craftsmen who did quality, professional kitchen/bath upgrades to my home. This contractor and craftsmen did fabulous work: competitively priced, on-time, per agreement, high-end quality work and good clean-up ... and no lying or exaggeration. (Even though it's been an ordeal for me, it would have been far worse if I had to chase down incompetency.)"

"My mother has a great passion for gardening and also making the lawn beautifully decorated. She insisted on Stonework for the lawns, but I wasn't sure about it. At that time I came across an advertisement for Platinum Home Builders. The finishing they gave left my mother awestruck."

Customers say: Quality work
"Pier completely remodeled our kitchen including custom cabinets. The really good thing about hiring Pier is that you have tremendous confidence that he's going to do a stellar job. He's a professional and brings professional craftsmanship to the job. You don't have to worry about the details because he will have already thought of them. And he handles all of the big stuff and the small stuff. So he organized and installed all the cabinetry, the counter tops, the vents and all of the appliances."

"A wonderful kitchen remodel experience.
We talked with 2 other remodeling contractors and decided to go with So Cal Builders and Design (Avi, manager/contractor). My husband and I seemed like we had instant warmth with Avi and felt like he could be trusted. He turned all of our worries about remodeling into a great experience. The price was in the middle of the other contractors, but he showed us great pictures and Avi also had great ideas and we were hooked. We picked out our cabinets, countertop, backsplash, we also had LED lights installed.
Then the process started, boy was I nervous at first when they gutted the kitchen, but after a day or two I was good. Everyone that worked for Avi seems like we had a good connection with and also trusted them. Ferdi was the person that did the gutting, plumbing, painting and installing the appliances and all sorts of other things (great job Ferdi).
You know once you start a remodeling there are always other unforeseen issues that pop up. Yes, they popped up with our remodeling, we found out the owners prior to us did some electrical work and it was wrong. So, we had to fix the electrical issues and also upgraded our electrical box (additional cost, but good). Simon and Usher did all of our electrical work (great job Simon). Along the way we were able to change our minds and nobody had a problem with that (at least they didn?t complain). We also decided to make changes to an existing wall by adding on a larger countertop in the kitchen. When the cabinets were installed they looked GOOD, they used excellent materials, great workmanship and the crown molding was FABULOUS. The countertops and backsplash are amazing too. Avi was always available, also with texting which made life great, didn?t matter what time he was always able to get back to us with answers to our many questions. He also was available to stop by to make sure we were happy and things were going as planned. The overall experience was fantastic.
We really enjoyed the professionalism and kindness that everybody displayed, also making sure we were pleased. Now we have our new kitchen and it is BEAUTIFUL.
We highly recommend hiring Avi with So Cal Builders and Design.

"The work started at the beginning of October 2012 and it took less than 3 weeks to complete the entire job. The work started by having my marvel bathtub, shower, vinyl floor and marvel wall around shower, and toilet taken out. Marvel bathtub, marvel wall around shower enclosure and marvel countertops in the powder room as well as in the small bathroom were broken into small pieces for easy transport. The first unexpected problem was the discovery of a dry rot problem underneath the shower floor. Since their estimate of additional cost was too high in my opinion, I complained. They were reasonable enough to lower the cost. After the demolition of the shower wall, their tile workers who did the tile work discovered small broken pieces of marvels were stuck in the shower drainage hole, meaning that demolition workers did not properly cover the drainage hole. The disaster was avoided by an attentive tile worker who removed them. After the demolition work was completed, the installation phase, as described above, went smoothly without too much problems and all the accessories such as all faucets, shower heads, toilet paper holders, towel bars and knobs for all drawers were installed.
The actual work was completed in less than 3 weeks, but it took longer than that because of waiting time involved in having a shower enclosure completed by a different vendor before I had Mr. Cabinet Care perform the finishing touch. However, once the work was completed and I made the finally payment to them, I discovered several minor repair that needed to be done. This included fixing leaking sink, leaking drainage pipe underneath the countertop, missing baseboard, toilet paper holder coming loose, and bathtub faucet temperature control not being properly set. Unfortunately, since these problems were discovered at different times, I had to ask them to come out multiple times to fix the problems. Each time I called, they were very courteous and responsive. Each time they came at the time they promised and did their job and for that I was very appreciative and impressed by their professionalism. If I had to knit pick, it is that not all their workers took off their shoes before entering the house. At my home we do not walk on the floor with our shoes on. On the very first day or work, my wife had to complain and the worker promptly went to the Home Depot and bought some materials to put on the floor, so the problem was taken care of. I believe all workers should be aware of this possibility. Another problem is that their repair work on leaking sink and drainage pipe are still not complete (meaning their testing after repair was too hasty and not thorough enough), but I just don't have a heart to call them again. Since the problems are not serious, I'll just wait until I have to call a plumber next time."

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.
With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.
Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.
Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.
It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
