"Sal and his polite crew did an excellent professional job excavating our 500gal LP tank and even returned to dump extra load of crushed stone into hole Free Of Charge and regrading top soil and lawn so we didn't have to worry about water collection attracting insects or us falling due to fact our rocky soil required 2 full loads of crushed rocks to make it level. We highly recommend Alternative Petroleum Services and personally refer straight talking Sal, Maria and their construction crew to neighbors and anyone considering excavation or other services they provide. You will be happy, just like us, as finding reliable polite contractors is not easy as we know well after having hundreds come to do work on our home and yard since we had house built in 1998. If you value polite and thorough contractors then Sal and his team are the way to go! ð ð Best - John & Esty Muench ð ð ð ¤"

"Our experience with Carlos and his crew was excellent. In the front yard he installed a concrete paver walkway & porch (30X16), and repaired a section of our asphalt driveway. In the backyard he installed a concrete paver patio (17X20). Carlos and his team take pride in their work and went out of their way to ensure we were satisfied with the results. You can see the expert craftsmanship in his work. As can happen with any project, we had some unplanned work due to complications with drainage on our property. Our soil is very soft and retains a lot of water. Carlos was able to quickly diagnose the problem and offer reasonable drainage solutions. He installed a new drainage pipe system, a french drain and a drainage well. Since he completed the work we no longer have a mini pond in our front yard when it downpours. Best of all his work was done with precision and complied with established code. He showed pride in his workmanship and genuinely cared about our needs and how we felt about the quality of work he was doing. He had a focused and easy going demeanor throughout the project. He was always willing to take the time to explain the work he was doing to ensure we were comfortable with everything. Our neighbors continue to comment on how beautiful our walk way, porch and patio looks. We are planning on additional work in the future and will be sure to call on Carlos when time comes!"

Small jobs welcome
"We bought a new home and had not quite gotten to buying the appropriate equipment to mow the lawn, weed whacking etc so wanted to hire for a one-time service to get the property cleaned up. Dan was responsive to our request, reasonable rates and able to accommodate the timing of service. He and his team came on site and did a terrific, thorough job. Did very well around the various plants and edges. We were so impressed, we are looking to continue using his team for a while longer while we settle in. Definitely recommend."

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.
When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.
Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.
If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
